Luohu Hotel — Hotel in Shenzhen

The Luohu hotel (different name in Chinese) should be considered a value hotel. As is often the case, the star rating for Chinese hotels should be one less than advertised. The hotel has a nondescript, but with awning, entrance. It has a small but nice lobby. I was checked in quickly, but unless you have at least some Chinese, it will be difficult as they struggle with English. The rooms are a good size for this rate and include desk, medium size flat screen TV (CCTV news is all there is in English), side chair, and closet. Since March of last year, all rooms in ShenZhen are supposed to be non-smoking, but the lingering odor meant that was not enforced or they never sanitized the room. There is free wireless internet with good speed. My room was not soundproofed from the outside construction. The bed was large, lots of pillows, but firm (hard). The bathroom was moderate size with shower, lots of towels, and shampoo, body wash, toothbrush and comb. There is tea and powder coffee service and two free bottles of water. My room included a breakfast coupon, but I did not try it.||The hotel is very near the Dongaman shopping area and about a 15 minute walk from the Luohu/Luowu gate, one street over from the Guamao subway station, and three blocks from the Laojie station.||My opinion is that there are better options in this area of Shenzhen, but you will find this a good value...

This hotel is run by Chinese for Chinese. Most staff do not speak English and have to call for a supervisor for any little question you ask. My first room was so run down - with peeling wallpaper, mold growing visibly, musty dank aircon, and sewage smells from the bathroom drains - that I had to move. My second room was merely tolerable with worn carpets, dark and outdated decor. Terrible Internet connection! The LAN cable did not work and the poor Wi-fi signal kept cutting out repeatedly. Worst of all, the hotel uses an IP that blocks and censors more websites than even mainland China does, meaning your attempts to get useful info for your visit are constantly thwarted one way or another. Boo!!! Breakfast was extremely disappointing with few choices for beyond hard-boiled eggs, rice gruel, noodles and low quality produce. Close to the subway and shopping center. The cleaning staff were excellent, hard working and thorough - the best thing about this sadly...

Stay two night for my prewedding purpose, we got a room on 8 Floor, comfortable bed, clean room, but toilet always stucks, cannot flush, we have to find staff to fix it twice. ||||Karaoke noise pollution starts on 10pm to 4am. We cannot sleep well even all windows are closed already. We change the room on next day and the staff told us that there is a Karaoke Bar on 5 floor and will have party everynight -.- They help to change to 14 Floor to avoid this problem. But toilet issue still the same, maybe water pressure is really poor on this hotel.||||So high floor is highly recommended or you can sleep well even someone is singing in your dream.||||Staff is really good, smiles and helpful.
