Hotel Le Refuge — Hotel in Guatapé

We stayed 2 nights while enjoying La Piedra ( Le Refuge is at its base), Guatape, and the beautiful views! The room was small but cozy with a very nice bath and a lovely balcony. Breakfast was delicious and can be served on a deck or at the restaurant across the road where you can sit along a mid-high wall and soak in the neighboring countryside while eating. We had a glassed-in corner room on the second floor which was especially lovely during an amazing thunderstorm one night. Patrick, the owner, was efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. We had enjoyable 3 nights in this awesome place! Patrick - the owner - is very nice and knowledgable and did everything to make our stay perfect. The room we've got was one with a modern private bathroom (best HOT shower in Colombia!), a double bed and a balcony overlooking the lake. You have two fully equipped kitchens and can also make use of the outdoor jacuzzi! The location is also perfect, being directly located beneath the rock which is the most famous visitors' attraction. The owner is so nice- But our room smelled of damp and mould. The standart of our room was like a bad hostel. Not a hotel. We had the bottom flat and that was horrible. I will say you cant rent a place out like that . The top part is much nicer. They need to renovate the bottom flat too- Also the restaurant across the street had very lourd music until 1 pm.
