This hotel stole our money! We arrived and paid for 3 nights (what a shame). We arrive and there was not hot water (it was freezing cold) and the party here is heavy( finishes around 2-3am)We told the receptionist about the hot water issue, and she said the heater was off and would turn it on. We waited and waited and there was no hot water. She then said she had to call maintenance because she didn’t know why the hot water wasn’t working (she lied. It was 8pm nobody from maintenance was going to come. |I told the receptionist that I wanted a discount for the fact I didn’t have hot water. I paid and expected to have all the amenities I paid for. She said they couldn’t do it. I said why? And she said the hotel doesn’t give discounts or refunds. I asked to speak to a manager, they said it was not possible. No manager was on site (how is that possible!!!) these people do not know how to manage a complaint and are not trained to attend emergencies. ||I called booking.com explained the incident. Booking requested the hotel to make the refund and to allow us leave( we wanted to leave) The hotel said it wasn’t possible without the managers approval … having said that there is no manager on site …they didn’t even want to call them!||Booking.com cannot contact these people as they claim to not have managers after 5pm. ||Please note that if you experience an issue this people won’t help you and you will loose your money. ||We preferred to leave and get our peace and commodity back. It was just terrible here at this hotel. I am still waiting for an apology from these people. ||The jacuzzi is not working while is rains (don’t understand why)|The hotel is outdated and needs renovation. |Poor customer service |No hot water (for more than 12 hours and we are still waiting for it) |Receptions don’t know how to handle incidentes nor are capable of handling an emergency. |No management |Rip off, they will take your money but won’t provide to you the amenities being paid for. |They don’t speak English....
Read moreWent to Medellin with my friends, but didn't have a place to stay prior to our trip. The taxi dropped us at the park across it and since we didn't have anywhere to go we decided to check out the place. We weren't sure about it at first because it looked really nice and expensive, but it turns out their rates were really cheap - you can even negotiate about the price. There were four of us and we took two rooms. The rooms were really nice (and hotel-like) and had a queen/king size bed, a bathroom with hot/cold shower, a mini fridge, tv, and an electric fan. There was free wifi and unlimited complimentary coffee and tea at the lobby. The top deck was really nice, there was a jacuzzi and you could see a whole lot of Medellin from there. The amenities weren't complete at that time yet (mid-May 2013), but they said they will be putting up a bar by the jacuzzi and a small gym, I think, or a spa. The location was great, too. It was right across the park, and a block or two away from the strip of bars and there was a burger & wings place right below it. The place was clean and the people there were really friendly and accommodating. The only thing we had a problem with was going back in the hostel in the middle of the night. Since they lock the door every time and they don't give you the key to the main door, we had to call them on their cellphones in the middle of the night (around 3 a.m.) so we can go in. They weren't pleased with that. So I suggest you tell them beforehand if you're returning in the wee hours so they know. But overall we had a really pleasant stay in Hostal Parque Plaza. And the best thing is we only paid COP 50,000 (US$ 25) each for our 3d/2n stay. The guy even gave us candies as a thank you and helped us get a cab that would take us to the bus station. I highly recommend...
Read moreThe location of the hotel was good. In the Poblado area, just a few minutes walk away from Parque Lleras. I got to the property from the airport by catching Aeropuerto JMC bus from (Ombuses) to Medellin (10,000 COP), and then a taxi to the hotel. The hotel is right above the Subway (Sandwich shop). The place is also a 8 minute walk to Poblado Rail station which is very easy to travel around Medellin. Lots of places to eat around the area. My favourite place to eat was at the Chapatti shop which was very near to Poblado station. ||The room itself - The bed and shelving was made and held up using concrete. There were no windows in the room, so no view or direct sunlight, just a small tiny window high up in the bathroom. The bed was fine, the shower was really nice. The room was clean.||The roof terrace was nice, with some nice views (nothing too nice) - just general views you get in Medellin. The breakfast was one of the worst breakfasts I have had. The food itself was tasteless - and the hot chocolate I ordered tasted of milk. I had to ask for more cocoa powder which still did not make much difference. (tip - one of the days I was one of the last people to go for breakfast and did get a slightly bigger breakfast).||The staff at reception didn't seem very friendly. The staff at the kitchen serving breakfast were nice, but did not speak English. ||I was not told of any extra charges when checking in, but there were charges - please let us know of these when checking in in...
