So I am about 2 months late on doing this review. But the end of March my family and I traveled to Medellin and we stayed at this hotel "Hotel Du Parc". In my opinion, it's not the best looking hotel lol. The pictures kind of fool you. However, this hotel is a French inspired design so the architecture, furniture etc is very European and the owner is a French guy as well. So my family group including myself we were about 18 people. So the 1st issue we had is that this hotel closes their gates at like Midnight so do not arrive in Columbia at midnight or later if you are staying here because you will not be able to go in to check in because they close the gates. We had to tell them to stay open till like 2am because the rest of our group arrived later than we did. 2nd, if you are arriving at the hotel after 10pm make sure you eat at the airport or at a restaurant on the way that's opened late because this hotel closes off their diner/kitchen at 10pm. We got there like at 11pm and like we were so hungry that we had to beg them to give us what they had sitting in the kitchen because we just arrived and didn't know where to go and eat outside of the hotel because we weren't expecting them to be closed (The streets was very quiet that night) . 3rd, as our vacation started and we started learning the operation hours of the hotel/diner etc and there's 2 waiters there that are older and they operate the breakfast / diner on some days and they are not good at handling big groups at all and they looked very annoyed with us. Their names are "Didier" and "Wilson" they acted so grumpy and looked so irritated with our group like we were holding them back from them working and you can see on their faces that they couldn't wait for us to leave. However, the younger staff like Fabien, Pablo, and Cindy were super sweet and chill and they know how to handle big groups very well and they were very patient with us and they never told us we had to leave and they even joined us in giving jokes etc lol. They were great. The rooms are okay but we reserved for a room with 2 queen beds and when we got to our room they gave us 2 twin sized beds apart. So we ended up getting moved to I believe one of their villas on the 3rd floor and it was a lot better. We suspect that this hotel serves as a place of prostitution though, because some people in our group said there's an old man that stays on the 5th floor and there was like 3 young girls that came out of his room. There was a fight on the 5th floor our last night and we couldn't nap and police had to come arrest who ever it was making noises etc. On some nights when we weren't in the streets partying we would be in our rooms and couldn't sleep because the music from the club was so loud and doesn't stop until 3 or 4 am .. I must say they did provide ear plugs in everyones room to put in your ears to block off the club noises lol. Other than that they cleaned the rooms pretty well, the breakfast and dinner there is really good, especially their Ceviche and Pasta was to die for. The front desk is super kind. They have a nurse come to your room to do your covid tests and you have to pay her $35 cash per person. Everything was walking distance from the hotel. We were literally in the mist of the ambiance. So in conclusion, if you're arriving in Medellin late after 10pm or you don't like noise and you want peace and quiet do not stay here or in this area. I hope this review helps future tourists better select their...
Read moreThis hotel from outside looks really nice but the interior is quite old. As it is located in the center of Medellín, you can hear a lot of noise at night that's why there is a set of earplugs in the room that has no balcony & from which you can only see the walls of the next building.
I went to the restaurant around 9:30 a.m. as usual on Sunday Dec.16 and I tried to order an omelette with onion, tomate, spinach and mushroom in Spanish but the cook(cocinera) who was a small woman with a white uniform on that day seemed not to be patient and frowned at me and even a little bit rude. So I gave up trying to speak Spanish and just ordered in English. But the male cook the other day was really nice, kind and attentive though.
After a while she served me my omelette with an offhand manner. And besides, the omelette she served wasn't good because she made it without onion. I couldn't understand it why she did the mistake in the first place. I mean she wrote my order down on her small note and to top it all off there were not so many people in the restaurant maybe 5 or 6 or so. Since it hadn't onions in it and I found it bland and not so tasty so I couldn't eat it up. I felt a little bit down because of her bad attitude towards me and was a little disappointed at this luxurious hotel in downtown Medellín that doesn't live up to its name.
There is one more thing I'd like to mention about the service of this hotel. Whenever I stay at a hotel, I always try to use my room as clean as possible so that they don't need to clean it up so often and don't need to wash so many towels wasting precious water. I feel kind of guilty about treveling a lot, polluting our planet by taking a plane & staying at hotels around the world.
So I usually have my room cleaned up once every three days. But this hotel seems to be very obsessed with cleaning. I have kept the "Do Not Disturb" button on ever since my first night. And then they kept asking me like 'Don't you want to have your room cleaned?' Every time I passed by the reception desk or they even called me to ask the same question. I got really irritated with it after three days.
I mean I am an ordernary person who cleans my room twice a week. Being asked the same question every day has been making me feel tired of the excess cleaning service here. I think they don't need to clean their rooms every single day unless the customer staying the room asks them to do so and should stop asking their customers the same question. If so, my staying at this hotel would be really a nice experience...
Read moreI had to change my review, because I was so disappointed and disgusted by the owner and the management of this hotel. Think about this, I have stayed at this hotel several times for a month or more. The management and ownership have allowed this hotel to go downside since truly since it opened in 2013. I stayed there lately for over 2-3 weeks to be kicked out in the streets of Medellin. I stayed with my mother who is 79yrs. and in a wheelchair/walker. After enjoying our stay at the DuParc Hotel, we had set-up a room reserve extension at the hotel due to coming for business and family affairs since the last time. At the beginning, everything seemed beautiful and wonderful but then being returning customers to the DuParc Hotel, they unexpectedly told me that our room was sold out to someone else for elevated prices, 3-4 times for the regular price of the hotel gave. The staff there told me the expression, "Quemaropa" is their expression, of what the owner and management did to me and my mother, who is severely handicapp. They promised at the beginning they would honor their original price to us, and out of the blue one day recently at 11 am told me that the room had been sold to someone else for higher elevated prices, without any warnings the same day. We had to leave that same day or pay the elevated prices,3-4 times higher for us to stay!!! Out of this world, are you kidding me, I had to change drastically my review. Some of the staff were good, but other were terrible. I am totally most disappointed and disgusted in this hotel from the terrible owner and management display of how we were treated. I stay regularly at several hotels during the month nationally at home or internationally for work, such as the Marriot, Omni, Westin, Radisson, Ritz Carlton,Embassy Suite and Hilton , but have never been treated this way in over 30 years of my stays. Imagine this,We were returning customers from several stays, wow. Had payed up-to-date continuously in cash every day our account. Well, if you truly want outstanding service go to another hotel where you and your family decide to extend your stay and get put in this position suddenly. We were put on the street with no concern of our extension for the room, done several days before for our stay at this hotel unless you suddenly payed highly elevated prices, in which we were lied to us by some of the staff. Highly disgusted at their operation of their hotel to returning customers coming to...
