This place is very veeeery good, I have been many times because of that. They offer a complete experience. They thought of everything when coming up with the concept.
-The service was impecable. -The space is large, the garden area was the nicest. We sat there and it was very refreshing. When we saw the prices we thought this had to be a very good place as they are above average, and they were good, but still somethings are just overpriced.
-We tried 2 cocktails: The " dragon of the tea" and the "volveré" , and both were really good, plus the dragon jar is a great idea. Our expectations were really high given the cocktails we had.
We ordered: Tuna tataki, it was nicely served and the flavor was good. The dressing for the salad was great.
-Pork gyosas, they were a little crunchier than expected, but the pork flavor was stunning.
-Philadelphia sushi roll, the flavor was good, this is such a classic but not easy to find a place in Colombia where they put the right amount of everything, here it was well mixed, the salmon was nice , enough cream cheese and avocado, and,
Prawns ramen, which was just ok, it is of a thicker consistency than usual, but the flavor was strong and delicious. The downside was that they let the prawns burn, they were supposed to be grilled and have a smoky flavor but they were overcooked and burned 😐☹️. Also , they use Udon noodles which are definitely not my favorite being so thick and simple.
-I would definitely come back and...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Cuon. The ambiance feels more like New York than Medellin. The quality of the food is impressive.
I had Sushi with Salmon, Avocado, and Cream Cheese plus Costillas that had been mostly deboned. The pork was juicy and tender enough to cut with a fork.
I also had the Bao de Cerdo (2) which had a little spicy kick (which Colombians will hate. They do not like anything picante, which I still do not understand).
For dessert I had a creamy mixture of Coco and Pina with touches of ginger served in a half coconut shell.
This restaurant is only a few months old and they have not figured out how to run the kitchen so the dishes come out logically and together. They have no concept of courses, like appetizers, mains, sides, etc. My seatmate and I both ordered the Bao. Identical items. Hers arrived 15 minutes before mine.
It is an expensive restaurant for Colombia. On my two visits, I paid around $63 USD. A similar dinner in San Francisco would cost double (the ratio is usually triple . . . $10 COP cost $30 USD). Nonetheless, I will go back as there are still some items on their extensive menu I’d like to try. #picante #spicy...
Read moreI first want to star with the positive aspects of Cuon. The place is beautiful, setup, decor, the kitchen. Obviously a lot of money was invested in this restaurant.
Now for the bad part. The waiter gives you a 5 minute speech that isn't even engaging about how the restaurant is a concept, that dishes are to share..... Bla Bla Bla..... A bunch of BS, I am not a rude person but I was tempted to become one in the middle of his monologue.
Now for the main dish. Food is not even average. I haven't done time but I am sure you can get a better ramen in prison. They used fettuccine for my pork ramen. Broth was meh, The pork was good but the Barilla pasta really ruin my experience. This is supposed to be one of the restaurants of Colombia's star chef Juan Barrientos.
They have a bar on top that I can remember the name. Beautiful bar but same problem. Overpriced drink and 5 minute explanation for Everything. Drink were good though.
