La Masia Summer Hostel — Hotel in Taganga

This hostel is gorgeous! It feels like a resort - its surrounded by beautiful mountains and has a great pool, restaurant and bar. It's only 5 minutes from the beach front where theres great cafes and restaurants - especially Babaghanoush, Cafe Bonsai and Pachamama - easily the best food I've had in Colombia. Very clean also - only downside is bad computer and the internet drops in and out. Be careful walking home at night - better to get a taxi unless you are a big group.||The staff are unbelievably nice and helpful. I was having trouble booking a bus ticket to Medellin with my limited Spanish so in the end after making calls for me the girl at reception came in a taxi to the bus station with me to translate and gave me lots of tips!...

I'm not sure where all the positive reviews came from...none of them described our experience. We booked the place for the AC, and the fact that it had a "fun vibe with a bar and restaurant." We were the only people there for 3 days....it was like a ghost town. There was no restaurant and we were never even offered breakfast. We tried to order a beer from the "bar" and it was warm...they even unplugged the refrigerator! They advertise air conditioning, but what they don't say is that you can only use it from 9:30pm until 8am. The sheets felt like sand paper, and the room smelled like seweage. For the price, we felt ripped off. The only good thing was that the women at the front desk...

I visit La Masia since my friends were staying there, the place was cool and so was the few staff I saw back then. After going to Tayrona and Cabo de Vela, me and my friend decided staying there for one night. While he went to the ATM, I decided to go and check in before. When I walked in, even before I asked anything, the front desk girl told me in a sort of rude Spanish they didnt have any available rooms, so I left to look for my friend. Somehow we crossed our ways and he went to the hostal and HE COULD CHECK IN. When I came and asked she was very surprised that the friend was me. She said I DIDNT LOOK LIKE A FOREIGNER.
