Hotel Perico Azul — Hotel in Jacó

If I could write negative stars to this horrible host I would…even though I never got the chance to stay at the property. The incident was over a year and a half ago but pretty astounding to forget. So, it happened around Sept 2021 I was living in Jaco and trying to move out of a friend’s place for my safety, I booked a room on Airbnb for myself for a few nights ,not too expensive, and in the area until I decided where to go next (I worked online at the time) the day I was supposed to check in I show up a little earlier around 6am just to drop my two full suitcases in my room/at the front desk, I get there in a cab and knock on the door, I call “hello anybody here?” in a medium tone voice (but loud enough to be heard),TWICE only…no response, so I left in the same cab and crash at a breakfast place still with all my luggage. I figured Nobody was awake,nobody heard me, too early for check in OK I get it..they get a pass on that. Around 9am which was supposed to be the standard time for check in I receive a message from the host Celine on Airbnb saying she actually can’t host me today in the end…OK I was kind of in shock/panicked, exhausted having had a bad night needing a place to leave my stuff and rest. I ask her the reason for that. Apparently she had just figured out “who I was” and last minute refused to host me because I previously lived in the same street as her Airbnb and had a few loud fights with a boyfriend who could be abusive that she had overheard over 6 months before that. Ok totally unrelated, so last minute she discovers she doesn’t want to host me and cancels saying I’ll get my money back. Pretty unprofessional and judgmental since I assured her I wasn’t living with this guy at the moment (who was not in a state of mind to pose any threat then anyway) but I had assured her very specifically that I had no intention to bring anyone for that matter for those 2/3 nights I just needed a place to sleep alone.Still she absolutely insists on cancelling/refunding me leaving me without any place to stay last minute at 9am ok I understand but if only that was the worse….I later discuss the matter with Airbnb who reports the host pretexted “I showed up at 6am drunk” Wow 😯 that I gotta say, unprofessional and judgemental you can be Ms. Celine but defamatory & specifically cover your b*tt with Airbnb to excuse yourself canceling an approved booking last minute based on hearsay/stigma I honestly am speechless not only because it was false I was not intoxicated by alcohol or any other substance for that matter, the reason why I showed up earlier than planned to drop off the luggage was to flee my “friend” who was letting me stay at his place,was abusing me, physically threatened me waking me up yelling/storming into my room at 5 am THAT was the real reason why I grabbed my bags and fleed his place earlier not because I came back from “party” “drunk” and decided it was going “to be fun” to disturb anyone. Congrats Ms.Celine your character is kind of exposed, it’s not all to appear nice in front of people who don’t seem to have any problems for your business, it doesn’t mean much when you needlessly step on people who are not at their best. I had friends who came and tried to book a room at your place a few days ago since I visited Jaco again and I didn’t mention anything to them about this incident bc it brings bad memories to me, instead I drove them to your place and the staff, just turned them away saying “it was full” she was also quite rude I gotta say, I was happy those people with high buying power found another place, just like I did when I needed it then bc canceling my booking last minute was not cool after I assured you I would come alone (I still would have spared you the bad review) BUT making up false information about people on Airbnb based on assumptions in an attempt to degrade them is LOW and that was the last straw for me so I would never want to give my money to...

This cute little hotel was AMAZING!!! I was traveling with my son who is a surfer. This hotel is very central located you can walk to the beach and to the city center in just a couple of minutes. We would go to another beach with some bigger waves ar about 10 minutes driving distance. From Jaco we also went to Manuel Antonio and to see some waterfalls everything was very accessible from there. Celine the owner knows a lot of nice places where you can go to and she was super helpful when giving us recommendations.

Our room was great, the beds were comfortable and the whole place was incredibly clean!!! Every day our room was cleaned and we received clean towels daily. There is a kitchen with all the comforts that you would need and you are free to use.

Because the best time for surfing was very early in the morning we would be awake around 5 to get ready to go, and there would always be fresh coffee by that time waiting for you!!!

Celine the owner is awesome as well as all the staff there!!!

Only stayed for one night, so can't say much about the beach etc. Free parking in front of the hotel, super safe area! Really cute Hotel, which gives you immediately a home-like atmosphere. The pool in the middle is also really nice. Great common area with fresh water and a kitchen and Chillout area. Rooms were clean and well equipped with a fridge, fan, AC, towels, soap, shampoo and even a coffeemaker with really good coffee. Especially the manager of the hotel, Soll, was super friendly and treated us like friends, when we arrived. She made sure we feel welcome and have everything we need. She also gave us some recommendations for local restaurants etc. She is also a yoga teacher, so you can book her classes at a yoga studio just around the corner. We arrived to late this evening to join unfortunately.
