The room was nice. But for 210 usd a night it's fair enough. But the overall experience was not great. I was asked to leave one day before my departure because apparently there was a misunderstanding as I had delayed my arrival. OK. But then, thinking it was resolved I'm asked to pay 48 usd more because the room is more expensive than the one I was booked at. Note this was not my fault. I thought asking for 48 usd and insisting was really poor. It's not like I had paid a very small amount. I paid an average of 170 usd per night for my stay. Really not gracious.
The area it is in is nice. But I was there for 3 nights and only the last day did that clean the outside stairs that were full of fruits that were literally rotting. Very smelly but also you didn't know where to walk.
The pool is OK but much smaller than the impression it gives you and is against the road. It's fine. But it's nothing amazing. My previous hotel cheaper than was really something else. But OK. Can't compare.
Finally the water in the hot tub was not the best. They were not removing the leaves that were falling from the nearby tree's and from the roof itself that was made of some natural material. Leaves of some sort etc so it didn't feel very clean. It wasn't disgusting to be fair. I went in it. But it wasn't what you would expect at all. I feel that they did clean the outdoor and tub the last day. Maybe it's because there was hardly anyone prior to that. But i wish they had made an effort from day 1. Again, not cheap. The room was clean though.
And then the final points. I'm gay, this is a gay resort. The owner messaging me on grindr and telling me I'm beautiful. And guapo. Not only once. I mean I'm not à prude but it got a bit weird after a while. And another guest told me the owner was flirting with him in a very agressive way and it was bothering him. American guy. Didn't witness it though. Lack of boundaries. I think when you run a business, you only flirt back with the guests of they flirt. But you don't initiate and insist...i chatted back about plumbing issue, he stopped the communication aha. 😊
I'm really surprised by those reviews and wondering if it's not mainly friends or people being worried about having their comment public. I'm not giving it 0 star because the room itself I was apparently upgraded to was nice. But 210usd. It felt like there was really a gay premium here. Tree house.
I see a lot of comments about the Bfast. I really don't get it. It was fine. But after 9 days in Costa Rica, it was very much standard. Nothing bad about it for sure. Nothing...
Read moreOasis Diverse Retreat is an incredible adult only and clothing optional space that really makes you feel welcome and safe as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. We stayed in the treehouse room for our honeymoon and could not have had a more relaxing and amazing time! The grounds are landscaped spectacularly and because of all the nature, we got to see so many animals like birds and monkeys right from the breakfast deck, pool, and our private balcony. Each room is decorated to a specific color to bring in color theory and magic feeling to really help you have a space that fits your vibe and energy needs. The owner and manger have done an incredible job decorating the grounds with fun little magical creatures like gnomes too. We just thought it was all so stinking adorable and inviting. The bar and bartender/manager, Will, is truly just too amazing and we loved listening to his DJ sets he was mixing as we lounged by the pool and bar all evening and night. Stephen, the head chef and owner, is truly just an upstanding human and we are sad we don’t get to have him cook breakfast for us everyday! The breakfast is included with your room and is the bomb dot com, fire, sooooooo delicious. Get the French toast or breakfast griddle for sure! The rooms are extremely well maintained and comfortable AF. We slept so well and just loved the comfort and vibe of the room and furniture and decor. Lots of incredible art in the rooms too! The great thing too is that the pool and spa are located in the same level so you don’t have to walk down 20 flights of tee hours steps in order to go from the pool area to the spa like another hotel we checked out in Manuel Antonio earlier in the year that is no longer adult only and lgbtqia+ friendly. That being said, Oasis gets it, gets its target audience and clients and knows how to make an atmosphere that’s safe and welcoming to all adults. Did I mention how great and fun it was to hang out and have friendly banter with the owner and staff? 10 stars. Do recommend. Don’t miss out and try it out for yourself asap! They also offer day passes for use of the pool and spa and to come to the fun af weekend parties hosted by the pool with amazing music and speaker system. We seriously just relaxed and danced all honeymoon here and will be...
