Markiz Apartments — Hotel in City of Zagreb

We got lucky - our original booking gave us the flick a week out - so grabbed MARKIZ & what a bonus. Lovely room & although fairly compact, it had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. There are obviously some larger apartments in the block. No view to speak of, just walk out the front door & you are so close to the main Square & the beauty of Zagreb. ||The real bonus was the extra suggestions Maja provided for us that filled our activities superbly for the 2 days. Nothing like a 'locals' background to prevent our aimless wanderings! The Orange Free Tour was excellent.||||Worth noting... ||Markiz is in an oldish uninspiring building & not at street level.||The address Andrije Hebranga 10 1 ... signifies it is on Ist Floor ... 10 is street number.||Parking on the street was easy & best strategy is to park on the parking meter & arrange with Maja to pay the appropriate amount on the ticket left on your windscreen ( reimburse her of course ) Unlike other places you do not apparently get a fine. Anyway check with Maja & avoid a confusing discussion with the parking ranger.||There is a little cafe/restaurant around the corner called "FOTIC" which was excellent. They do a nice breakfast.||After all of that - Markiz was one of the most economical Apartments we stayed in during our 5 weeks touring...

We stayed for 5 nights in the studio of these luxury Markiz apartments. It was equal to any upmarket hotel we have stayed in (and we have travelled extensively all over the world).|Maja checks all her guests in and gave us extensive information about the city, restaurants and places of interest. We've never experienced such attention to detail... It was so very lovely to feel so very welcomed. |The Location is excellent for exploring the cental pedestrian area which is only a few minutes walk. Heaps of cafes and restaurants just metres away. |The Decor is stunning and there a very comfortable king sized bed with quality linen. |Inside the apartment we couldn't hear a sound outside. |The studio has a very well equipped small kitchen with dishwasher fridge and cooktop. Also a washing machine. |All fittings and appliances are QUALITY and cleanliness was exceptional. |These apartments were such a brilliant find... as this was our first visit...

Everything is great. Very convenient location, great host, All the comforts of home. This is part of a 24 day trip with Prague, Croatia, and Budapest. I spent hours finding the best place to stay. (A lot of the photos were photoshopped to look spotless and bright. This Markiz is true to it's photos. Unfiltered and unphotoshopped. )Best stay was in this luxury apartment. Kitchen with Dishwasher, and all amenities. Surprised that there's washing machine so we were able to do laundry. The best bed ever! Great support especially for those with back pains. Maps and guide books in the property. Near supermarkets. The host is easy to communicate. She also arranged a pickup and drop off to the airport for a very reasonable fee. Maja is just wonderful. Being a woman, the feminine touch and attention to detail is worth mentioning. Well stocked in supplies. Instructions for check in were clear. Great communication. Always willing to help. I would...
