I have just finished half of a meal here and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a Michelin restaurant. Had I not been so rushed to find somewhere I would've steered clear as it has 3 or 4 different cuisines on the menu, any more than 2 would be enough to put me off for obvious reasons. The homemade bread to start was very nice and the mushroom butter complimented it well. The French onion soup was good but certainly not michelin standard - I was dining with an experienced French home cook who said she also wasn't impressed. The main meal was where it really went wrong - slow cooked veal, jus, roast potatoes and carrot. Where to start - the veal was tough, chewy, dry and had little flavour. Anyone who has ever slow cooked meat will be as confused as I was as to how they managed to achieve this. The jus was the consistency of watery gravy and the only discernible flavour was salt. The potatoes weren't crisp and also had no seasoning. The carrots again had no seasoning but had a good bite. I took a few bites, put my cutlery down and waited for approximately 10 minutes for someone to come and ask how it was before getting up to find service (the restaurant was almost empty). The waiter at the door was helpful and polite and took my plate. However, our server was at points incredibly rude about this. I had asked the waiter at the door to take it off the bill as I had barely touched it, but it wasn't due to the language barrier between us. When our server brought the bill over I requested for it to be taken off twice as the first time he seemed quite put off/annoyed by me asking this and said OK in a borderline rude tone. Upon asking him again as he hadn't moved for a couple of seconds he then went off to remove it. When he came back he asked what was wrong, I politely tried to explain what I had said above and was cut off by him saying this has never happened in 3 years, clearly not interested in hearing what I had to say. I politely mentioned I rarely send things back and have been to about 15-20 michelin star/guide restaurants but never had to send a meal back at one, to which he rudely repeated that this had never happened before. Overall, it felt like I had personally offended him and he was rude about the whole experience, as much as I tried to be polite. I only asked for the main to be taken off, not the water or starter I had ordered, which I think is very reasonable. Overall a very poor experience and I...

We came in for a dinner, while we were waiting for the rest of the party no one brought a drink menu or asked do we want to order some drinks to start, we were literally sitting there for 20 minutes or more and no one looked at us, we had to ask several times to get served. There is no drinks or cocktails menu, you need to order out of the head, you can’t look at list and decide. A friend asked for sweet wine like Muškat and got a Prošek, was charged for Muškat. The cocktails are only basic like Aperol spritz, I would expect a custom list for this type of restaurant and price.
Sold Japanese liquor as an aperitive, got Irish whiskey.
The waiter with glasses was ok, but the tall one was so not interested, when he was setting up the spoons and the desert he was litterally throwing it on the table, same thing when putting plates in front of us.
No explanation of food, no ask for alergies. Beef tartare is ok, but it comes with very greasy potato chips. Beefstake risotto has 0 meat pieces inside. Ravioli come on a plain tomato sauce that looks like directly from the can.
They charge couvert and serve bread and tastless butter for 2€ pp.
The only good thing is the Tiramisu, which tastest delicious, so compliments to the pastry/desert chef.
All in all, not impressed with food and definitely very bad service. You have to ask yourself for everything, no one asks you if everything is ok or offers a drink refill. Not up to a standard.
I don’t recommend, Zagreb has many many great restaurants and this is not...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at a Michelin-Starred Restaurant
My visit to Theatrium by Filho in Zagreb was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant. While the ambiance was beautiful, the food and service fell far below expectations.
My starter, the “Morski Cappuccino,” lacked texture, with rubbery shrimp and overly soft elements. When I politely shared this feedback, the maître d’ became visibly offended. Worse, my friend noticed staff in the kitchen tasting my dish and openly debating my comments, which felt deeply unprofessional.
The soup was delicious, but service was slow, and wine pairings we specifically requested weren’t consistently provided. My main course, the sirloin steak, was well-cooked but had similar texture issues, leaving it uninspired. No new wine was served with it, forcing us to drink water instead.
Adding insult to injury, the restaurant mocked my Instagram feedback with comments like “you didn’t even know how to behave in a restaurant.” This behavior was shocking and unacceptable.
For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this experience was humiliating and far from the quality and professionalism expected. I cannot recommend...
