Facilities There is no keys at all - no keys for dorms/rooms and the hostel’s entry door is constantly unlocked. So when the reception closes (at 10 pm) and the staff leaves, literally anyone could enter from the street into the hostel and into your room. Knowing that, I couldn’t sleep well. Each bed has it’s own power socket but no reading lamp - which for me it’s a hostel essential. Otherwise rooms are spacious and clean.
Location Not easy to find (they are literally 3 different stairs around the cable car bus stop), and there isn’t a single sign to indicate in which direction the hostel is. They should definitely put one to indicate which stairs to take. I had to call the hostel as I couldn’t find my way but they weren’t helpful. The hostel is conveniently located, there is a airport shuttle bus stop next to it and it’s close from Old Town.
Staff When I checked in, the staff didn’t even show me the common areas. Apparently they have a nice terrace with a view but I didn’t know where it was. I mostly chose this hostel because I could book a bed in a 6 beds dorm and they put me in a 8 beds one without any explanation. Finally it doesn’t seem the reception is staffed many hours of the day. Check-in is from 3 pm to 10 pm. If you leave early (6.30 am for me), there is no check out, because their is no one at reception and no keys to give back (is it done...
Read moreThe overall experience was fine but for the price we would have expected a bit more. We took the family room (450€) for 2 nights. The photos were better than the reality. Nothing terrible, but the beds weren't that comfortable, especially the pillows and it wasn't that clean unfortunately.
On the positive side the, the location is great with nice views and it had a decent shower.
Not an ideal place to stay if you have a car though. We had a bit of an issue in that Dubrovnik recently introduced a restriction on cars driving into the centre with fines of 260€ and the hostel is within that restricted area. It would have been nice for the hostel to have informed us of this in advance as we ended up driving into the restricted area thinking that as we had accommodation in that area we would be permitted which is not the case.
The other issue is that it is down a narrow side alleyway which cars or taxis can't access and it is a bit of a walk over cobbles and stairs to get to a road which is a bit challenging if you have a...
Read morePros: reasonable price for its location and value. Great location. Clean bathroom. Cons: unfriendly and rude staff! They made it seem like they wanted me to be gone fast. And I stayed for 7 days. They ruined the trip a bit tbh. I also lost some of my food after they moved it. When most of my roommates moved out, they did a big clean in the room and moved my stuff to downstairs. Bed was quite stiff. The “deluxe” female rooms are still mostly bunk beds, not like how it showed in the pictures. Also, there was 0 socialization in the hostel. Felt more like an Airbnb. The common area is usually...
