Stayed in room 492, twin room for 5 nights, breakfast included. Room - 4/10 - The room was a corner one and the view from the balcony was good, you could see the pool area and a part of nissi beach. The room itself was very small, when you open any cabinet or wardrobe it almost hits either wall or bed. Noice isolation was not good. Beds were not comfy, pillows were like a brick and blankets too hot for the wether. Bathroom was a disaster. It had a bathtub, moldy shower head, low water pressure (it was a struggle to wash off the shampoo from my hair), water overheated itself, it was either too hot or too cold. Door didn't close unless you pushed too hard. There was not ventilation (or was and didn't work) so the steam and smells spread nicely into the room :)). Hair dryer was broken, still worked but the way it was installed was a fire hazard, cables were visible. Room key was another struggle, it frequently didn't work and had to head down to the lobby to fix it, happened at least daily.
Room service - 4/10 - The room was "cleand" every day, though they never touched the bath, the sand we washed off on the first day remained there till the last day :)). New towels were left if you dropped old ones on the floor (that's hotel a rule). Some of the towels were stained and looked like they served the hotel for a decade. Bed sheets were changed on the fourth day after we left a note asking to change them. Water was left only on the check in day, when we asked for it the next day, they said it was only for the first day. I don't have a problem buying one, but it's a rude tone to say that to a customer who pays for every day. what if you have new guests every day, what then? No water exept for the first one or what? Thank me, I had my own products, because toiletries were never left, exept for the first day (three conditioners, one shampoo and two loquid hand soaps), no bath robes, toothbrushes of toothpaste, which i think is included in toiletries, which they say are provided. Correct me if wrong, no toothbrush or other hygiene product holders even if you have one :))
Food - 7/10 - Breakfast was good, assortment was decent, though it never changed during our 6 day stay. Restaurant food was okay, tasted two dishes, both not bad but blend, lacked flavour. Bar cocktails were good, little too sweet for my taste, but still good, prices varied from 5 to 8 EUR.
Pool & fun areas - 8/10 - Hotel had three pools, one of which was shallow for small kids (nice touch), another one was standard depth with a shallow part also. Water was decently clean, but it was so warm that I couldn't cool down after a sunbathe (weather was very hot and that's expected I think). One pool was indoors. Sunbeds and umbrellas were enough for the guests. There also was a play area for small kids, pool table and some other entertainment pieces. There was some kind of performance every night (I think. I only heard the sounds in the room, never attended one), like violin performer and magic show.
Staff - 6/10 - The staff was pleasent and attentive, though never asked how the stay was, which means they already know the answer. It's a common practice and everywhere I stayed before lobby stuff asked for feedback upon check out.
Gym - existed, never visited, but looked spacious and maintained. Can not say for sure of course.
Overally, hotel very much needs maintenance and stuff needs training, though the problems could be coming from management's end. I do not recommend this hotel, even though it is on a great location, 150 meters from nissi beach (which is overrated), problems overshadowed best parts and our stay was not...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Nissiana Hotel in Ayia Napa from August 6th to 11th, 2024. While there were some positive aspects to our stay, the overall experience left much to be desired.
Positives:
We arrived early, and the hotel was kind enough to let us use the pool and changing rooms before our official check-in time. This was greatly appreciated, especially after a long journey. Our room was ready right at the expected check-in time, which was convenient. The staff were generally friendly and attentive, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The pool area was a highlight, particularly for families with children. The hotel features a very shallow pool for little ones and a second pool that had both shallow and standard depths, making it suitable for everyone. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of choices, and the quality was good. However, it remained the same every day during our six-day stay, which could get a bit monotonous. The cocktails were decent, though some were overly sweet for my taste. The WiFi was reliable and fast, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel’s location is excellent, being very close to the Nissi beach, which made it easy to enjoy the seaside whenever we wanted.
Negatives:
Unfortunately, the room was a major disappointment. The key card often didn’t work, requiring frequent trips to the reception, which was quite frustrating. The bathroom was poorly maintained: the door didn’t close properly, there was no ventilation, and worst of all, the shower head had visible mold, which was very unpleasant. Housekeeping was subpar. After returning from the beach on our first day, we found sand still in the room even after it was supposedly cleaned. They only provided bottled water on the first day, which was inconvenient. We also had to ask for the bed sheets to be changed, as they weren’t replaced otherwise. Basic amenities like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and robes were not provided, and some of the towels left in our room were stained, looking as though they hadn’t been replaced in years. Several bathroom fixtures were broken, including the towel holder, and the hairdryer had broken buttons, making it unsafe to use. The beds were more in line with what you’d expect from a guest house, though I’ve slept in a way comfier beds in really cheap guest houses, certainly not what we anticipated. Upon checking out, we weren’t even asked how our stay was, which suggests to me that the hotel staff might already know the answer. Overall, while the pool, breakfast, WiFi, and location near the beach were enjoyable, the lack of maintenance and poor room conditions overshadowed our stay. The 2-star rating reflects the few positives we experienced, such as the pool area, breakfast, WiFi, and early check-in accommodation. However, the disappointing room quality, lack of proper amenities, and poor housekeeping prevent me from...
Read moreStayed at Nissiana Hotel for 3 nights end of July 2022. One adult one child. The hotel seemed decent with parking on premises, looked clean and the pool which was my main concern was great. Also, Nissi beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel which that was a plus.
That's all about the pros though.
The cons, where to begin... They managed to lose our reservation so they actually "shoved" us in a bungalow on the back of the hotel. That was not too bad from their end. But, that bungalow!! My worst room experience ever!! The place was outdated, ants crawling everywhere. The shower area was rusted, the shower curtain was dirty, the cooking area was rusted, under the sink the whole thing smelled bad. The A/C unit in the kitchen looked new but that was just looks. Once we walked in a strong smell of mildew came on us. The A/C unit in the bedroom smelled less but could only function for 5 minutes and then stopped for 5 and back again the same thing in an infinite loop. Then you sit outside and you can see the laundry area of the hotel, a diesel generator and an abandoned area. But that was our bungalow, the rest had a garden on their front.
That was the room.
The staff. Rude!! The least! They had a face like "what do you want"? And that was everywhere, from the Reception area to the pool bar.
The "lifeguard" did nothing to stop non-residents entering the area, everyone were doing whatever they wanted, without respecting others but that's just details. That comment was not for the hotel but for the quality of guests.
I mentioned the above details to a responsible person and we went to the room to see it himself. And of course all were in my head as they claimed everything is fine (For the A/C smell of mildew). For the rest they just could not comment.
On their benefit they did offer a free night on the 4th floor - which i believe it is a part of the renovated area of the hotel. But could not stay anymore there. And trust me, i'm not going back to that hotel again.
So, if you decide to test your luck, feel free to go but ask for a renovated room and not the corner bungalow on the back of the hotel. Maybe the room experience will be better. But really, good luck with the staff.
PS: I do not usually leave bad reviews - i prefer not leaving a review at all but that attitude...
