I visited this restaurant and would like to share my thoughts:
The food was truly delightful; we indulged in sesame cheese and stuffed grape leaves, accompanied by delicious sauces and homemade baguette. However, the menu left much to be desired. It's a bit confusing and lacks essential information.
The rule here is straightforward: you can either order two mini mezes or two portions, and combining them isn't possible. If you go for portions, the menu mentions, "The portions come with salad, 3 dips, bread, and fresh potatoes (fried or baked)." However, if your choice lacks meat, you won't get the appetizer and potatoes. The waitress explained that our selected dishes were considered appetizers, even though they were listed among the portions. This inconsistency between the menu and the actual meal was confusing, especially when we expected potatoes.
Service, for the most part, was pleasant, with one waitress being exceptionally kind. However, another server seemed a bit annoyed when we asked for clarification on the ordering process.
Overall, our dining experience was enjoyable, with a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. The restroom was also very clean. But one question remains: How can three people effectively dine here together, given the menu...
Read moreI went to this tavern with a group of friends (6 people). I knew in advance that this wasn''t going to be a tavern that serves meze dishes prepared in the traditional way, so I was prepared to try something new. Indeed, the meze dishes that we were presented with had interesting combinations which I didn't try elsewhere and they didn't lack imagination and innovation. I particularly liked their meatballs wrapped in tomato slices with melted cheese and pesto sauce on top, as well as their commandaria sauce that was used to accompany their pork shanks. In the end, they also served us a fruit platter as well as a lovely piece of cake which smelled of orange. We were also kept entertained by 2 men who were playing the bouzouki while singing live. I particularly enjoyed the fact that they'd come close to the guests and asked them if there were any songs in particular they'd like them to play and sing! I'd recommend this place to anyone who's bored of the traditional meze type dishes and is up for trying something a little bit different which reminds the old but looks new and fresh. The tavern is alos located in the beautiful village of Omodos, so this could be a perfect opportunity to turn this into a day trip, rather than just travelling...
Read moreI was genuinely looking forward to visiting this restaurant, having had a fantastic experience ~8 years ago.
Two reasons why I have given 1 star:
• Service: the man in charge is passive aggressive, which puts you off from the moment you enter the restaurant. This is definitely not what you expect from a ‘high-end’ village tavern. Furthermore, the waiting staff are all very young and inexperienced - I almost felt as if they were school children (everything from the way the brought out the food, to the way they forget things about our order, to the way they spoke). Nothing wrong with this, but not what you expect from a ‘higher end’ restaurant, which is what this restaurant is trying to be. • Food: apart from the salads, the rest of the food was disgusting. The restaurant is desperately trying to mimic some of the great food you get at many restaurants in Greece, but is failing miserably. I actually felt sick after we left - the worst dishes were the pot of boiled goat (covered in fat) and the cheap dessert (99 cents custard with the chocolate syrup). I feel that with some minor changes the food could be improved drastically.
Overall would definitely not recommend and will certainly not...
