Have past this place many times and thought it was about time to pay a visit so I could write a review. What strikes you about Second Cup is not just how good it looks from the pavement/road, but also the amount of seating inside and out.. There is so much space outside you're spoilt for choice with tables, chairs and sofas. This whole area is under the cover of umbrellas but still enough choice if you would rather sit in the sun at the front or likewise in the shade behind this seating area. I have sat in other such establishments in the area and there are times it's nearly impossible to sit outside. But at Second Cup no such problem. Walking inside you are struck by the size, cleanliness and the massive counter at the end of the room. The staff are really friendly which puts you at ease straight away. There is a great selection of coffees, savory snacks and pastries. I found the prices very reasonable and lower than some of the bigger competitors. Myself I love an Iced Vanilla Latte and have to say it was one of the best I've had. I really think I've found my new watering hole 😊 Firstly I will comment on my photos as it does not look very busy but bear in mind it was about 09.15 on a Saturday morning. When I left just before midday there were a lot more people there inside and out. I am sure because of the space it will fill up in the afternoons and evenings - so I will have to pay an evening visit and report back with an update. Let me also add it's a great place for families with children if you would rather sit inside in the cool - with easy access for them and of course more importantly the whole place is very wheelchair friendly. So if you are stuck on the big name competitors for your coffee fix I highly recommend you stop at Second Cup because I'm sure you won't be disappointed... I was more surprised than anything and just happy to have a table outside watching the...
Read moreThe location of this cafe /sports cafe is easy to find as it is opposite the Radisson Beach Hotel, and that is a great location for passing trade and for locals to get to.
The interior decor is a combination of a sports bar, starbucks and a university student common room. It's cool, chilled, designed with clean edges and kept super clean. (Even the toilets are exceptionally clean).
The patrons are early 20s to 40s and throw in any age for the sports too. The Tvs are on but no sound which contributes to hitting all the interests of the customers. Clever, cool and all ate happy with that.
The food and drinks menu is good. Coffee (of course) tea and beers and wine. The cakes are pretty fancy and the snacks just right for the beverages.
The smoking room os outdoors yet it feels like it is indoors. The design of the area is clever and sophisticated the coffee is good the service is good.
A great place...
Read moreWent to second cup on a Saturday night at 11.10pm. Closing time 12pm. Before we spoke we were told we couldn't have coffee of any kind as they had cleaned all machines and couldn't take cash as had cashed up !! We ordered one cold slush drink to try, I was not keen so ordered a different one which was met with a huff and a puff from the girl as I am guessing meant two receptacles to wash up. The till they said had been cashed up was actually started on whilst we waited for our drinks. At 11.40pm all lights were turned off ( we were in the garden) and had to finish our drinks in the dark, no cushions were taken in Just aswell as we were using them. I have only once before written a review which was a good one but the rudeness and hostility we experienced for our desire to have a coffee was alarming and I wished I had walked away. The staff were both rude, most un accommodating and should not be running...
