We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks in September 2022 and had an amazing time. We entered the hotel and were greeted by Paul at reception before we were given a refreshing lemon based drink. Check in was easy, our cases were taken to our room by the porter and up we went. Upon entering the room, chilled music was playing, and the curtains opened showing the glorious blue sky, and glistening sea. This really set the mood for the stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. Only a couple of years old, a lot of thought has gone into the room layout and there is plenty of room and storage for a two week stay (even shelves to get your suitcases out of the way during the stay) A super comfortable king size bed, seating area, large bathroom and good-sized balcony finish off the room. We had a room on the fourth floor and I feel this gave us the best views. We had considered booking a room with a private pool but quite frankly are pleased that we didn’t. For the extra price, you get a small pool, limited or no view and people walking past quite often on there way to and from the toilet/restaurant. We couldn’t fault any of the facilities in the hotel. The gym was a decent size and was well equipped, and the wife and I done numerous Pilates/yoga sessions which are complimentary during the stay. The pools are lovely, and the sunbed allocation system is very good. Don’t worry if you don’t get the best beds straight away though as you can change at any time if a better located one becomes available. All of the staff are friendly and bubbly and they actually want to help you, and we did not have one bad experience with a member of staff at the hotel. Food; Breakfast in the hotel is very good, with a wide selection of foods to cater for everybody. The themed dinner nights in the buffet are a good idea, although we felt like it catered very much for the English traveler. We only ended up trying the Italian and Oriental night as we wanted to try authentic Cypriot flavors and so on our buffet nights ended up eating out most of the time. (We recommend Hondros, Agora Tavern and Happy Island Restaurant). We tried all of the restaurants during our stay. Fort O Lana was very good and the most authentic for Cypriot flavours. Immenso had amazing views and the Asian fusion food was delicious. The fine dining experience in Nocturne was good, although the food was a bit fussy for us and so wasn’t our favourite. Dress codes are to be adhered to for the restaurants as we did hear of a couple get refused to Nocturne as they were too casual. We booked the half board plus option which overall was good. The inclusive wine list is very good, and don’t neglect the local wines as some of these will surprise. However, it is a bit of a strange concept. With dinner you can get as many soft drinks as you want but the minute you leave the dining area a coke will cost you €3.50. The same can be said for coffee. An iced latte is included with breakfast/dinner, and you could drink as many as you wanted however at the bar it costs €6. Why these aren’t included throughout your stay is beyond me, especially considering the cost of your stay. All the staff were amazing and a credit to the hotel. They work extremely hard, work long hours, yet always have a smile on their faces. A big shout out to the following staff though who went the extra mile for us during our stay and were just a pleasure to talk to; Paul at reception, Laszlo the porter, Christina in the restaurant helping my wife with her Cypriot language; Hara and Inga at the guest reception services; Agnes, Louisa and Andrea the pilates/yoga instructors who were excellent teachers; and Nanteznta the housekeeper who was amazing throughout our stay. All in all, this hotel is stunning. It is very clean and well maintained, and we had the most amazing time here. We would 100% stay here again in a heartbeat.

If you’re looking for somewhere really, really special for just the two of you - no kids (& no dogs )- this IS the place to go. It truly is 5* excellence. Beautifully kept, inside and out, it simply makes you feel good in every way imaginable. From the moment you step into the airy, marbled reception to the moment you leave … you are assured of a holiday you’ll by thrilled by and remember forever. The stunning shore side location provides breathtaking sunsets… with awesome views and fabbie sea swimming. And there’s every facility you could ever want - an indoor heated pool; 2 fabulous outdoor pools - swim up, sit at the bar and have a beer or cocktail; a wonderful sun lounger garden (no silliness with towels needed here - you are allocated your numbered sun loungers for the entire duration of your stay!! Yaaayy! Fresh towels and cold bottled water provided, every day) with buzzer waiter service as you relax and enjoy the stunning sea view on your sunbed; a gym; hairdresser, massage and health pamper facilities … And the food - Wow!!! Every day the spread offered is unbelievable - every kind of food for every kind of palate and nothing is ever too much trouble because the service and attention to detail is sublime. Each night there is a themed food night covering Indian, Mexican, French, Italian, Cypriot, Greek etc - and it really is superb!! You also have a choice of 3 a la carte restaurants onsite that you really MUST NOT miss - drink your (complimentary) choice of wine, or your champagne or cocktail to a soft piano; enjoy the lights of Paphos as you delight in an Asian fusion menu; or while away a special outdoor evening enjoying an authentic Cypriot menu … and walk away simply blown away by experiences to cherish … The rooms are delightful - airy, spacious and very comfortable and with free fast internet. Most have balconies for added pleasure and enjoyment! All so clean and so very modern they are an absolute delight. And all of it is perfectly accessible for people in wheelchairs, using mobility scooters, or needing other walking and mobility assistance. Paphos town is only a short walk away (for excellent ice cream!), stunning views, boat trips and a host of water activities. Here you’ll find stunning architecture in the open air museum that houses the most amazing mosaics from Roman and Byzantine eras and so much more. Walk round the castle or take a gentle stroll along a concreted pathway that runs all along the bay and is very well lit for a delightful night time strolls, or your daily jog. Then there’s the old town to visit … jeep trips to the mountains … boat trips to other beaches and places of interest … the King’s Tombs to see … and just loads to do and enjoy - even if you never leave the hotel!! Paphos is also very safe - there no hawkers of fake rubbish assaulting you, no peddlers of tat, no hustlers bothering you, no rough sleepers, no litter spoiling everywhere … it’s just a great place to be and a wonderful holiday experience to savour. Been lots of places all over the world, but this is the only hotel we have ever been back to simply because it is sooooo good and always provides the perfect relaxing holiday experience. But don’t just take my word for it - go and savour it for yourself and see what makes the Hotel Amavi a truly standout romantic and relaxing experience for every couple who want life to give them something really, really special. Enjoy!!

We stayed at the Amavi in July for 7 nights, we arrived around 11pm, from the taxi upon arrival we were greeted by a porter who took our luggage into reception. We were checked in with a non alcoholic drink. The porter then took our cases to our room and explained how the AC and control panel worked (to adjust curtains and window blinds and control the lighting in the room). The room was gorgeous, we stayed in a standard room with king bed, sea views. Was absolutely stunning. Despite arriving late, they had kindle left us some sandwiches as we missed dinner. They also provided a voucher which we could use for lunch as we’d missed a meal. I felt like they had gone above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. The next morning we had breakfast at the buffet restaurant, they have a separate menu you can order eggs Benedict or pancakes as well as the standard buffet selection. After breakfast we went by the pool, sunbeds are managed via a reservation system. Pool attendant was extremely helpful; explaining which beds were available, which got more sun exposure and those that offered some shade. We chose bed 107, as it would give us shade from the hotel building in the morning and we had a parasol as well as palm trees to shade us from the hot July sun in the afternoon. The pool area is exactly as you see in photos, immaculate and gorgeous. Pool attendants can bring towels and complimentary bottled water to your bed, adjust your parasol, etc. Bar staff / waiters on hand to deliver poolside food and drinks, all can be ordered via your phone, you scan a QR code at your sunbed. The reservation system for sunbeds is faultless, don’t need to worry if you’ll get a bed or where that will be. If you’re unhappy with your selection the pool attendants are only too happy to let you reselect from the available beds. When you go to the pool you’re given fresh towels to cover your bed and yourself to dry off after a dip. You get a small lunch box style cool bag which has 2 complimentary 500ml bottles of water, you also get 2 each day in your room. If you need more you can ask at the pool attendant station, this is free of charge. This is a really nice touch. The hotel is stunning, it is a true 5 star hotel in Paphos. Restraints were good, buffet restraint does a theme each evening. In my opinion the best by far was the Italian night. They even had an a la carte menu you could order pasta from. Highly recommend you attend during the Italian nigh. Part of our package entities us to book into the 3 al la carte restaurants, we found there was only availability for 2 during our visit which was frustrating. The fine dining restaurant Nocturne surprisingly turned out to be our favourite, we aren’t fancy Nancy people but the staff catered to our needs, my husband doesn’t eat fish and I don’t like mushroom. They could easily and happily accommodate the request: the food was incredible, well worth a visit. Great to get as part of our half board package. The hotel has a small library in reception, we didn’t use it, but looks like lots of guests leave books they’ve read while on holiday. Good selection and something else to carry if you want to just pick up a book there. Lots of choice from old to new. Overall couldn’t fault the hotel, absolutely gorgeous. Staff friendly & helpful. Desperate to go back already.

Good reception lady is very welcoming and polite, nice to be greeted this way Room cleaning service is impeccable Very nice waitress in the main restaurant Nice hotel and very good location, nice room features and a very modern design Awesome view on the sea, spectacular from 3rd and 4th floor especially Very nice restaurant on the rooftop with delicious starters (Immenso) The fact that you can order services/ the waiter to order drinks via the push of a button at the pool area Smart concept regarding the sun beds at the pool area, which are fixed for the time of your stay. No stress to find a place early in the morning The sea is perfect, very clear crystal clear water, good access from the hotel and a nice beach too

Bad In-restaurant personale starts to place dishes for breakfast on the table way before dinner time ended, thus making remaining guests feel like they should start to leave or hurry up. This should happen after the actual dinner time finishes at 10pm Some waitresses (in particular the head waitress G.) in the standard restaurant was not very polite. Does not make a welcoming and nice impression, you feel more like you are disturbing her from going home or something Only one beer option during dinner (Keo), while there are more than 10 wine options. There should be an option to choose between included beers too! Switch for curtain in bathroom should be single push Larger umbrella for the pool area Digital services could be updated: Booking participation in daily events has to happen in person; this could be more convenient via the app. Currently the app also includes events that you cannot even book anymore as they are no longer offered in general (e.g. group tennis sessions) Night Portier at service desk is rude when asked questions, very impolite experience Hospitality: in general very good, although the service level quality with staff is very variable so to say, it pretty much depends with whom you have to deal with. There are some very nice employees, but others are neither welcoming nor really friendly to you / they basically just do what they need to do to keep their job it feels. Stop making tea and filter coffeee with tap water - it tastes like chlorine and it’s very distinctive. It ruins the tea and coffee flavor completely Free stuff: Loyalty members of the Kanika hotel group receive a free bottle of wine on arrive that is a welcome gift in their room. We waited till the last day to drink it. Unfortunately, it was the worst (as well as cheapest with 2-3€) wine we drank during our stay. Honestly; if this should reward loyalty of returning customers with you, then at least provide a good wine, not a 2€ one. The included free activities that we were interested in were no longer offered, they were not taking place were or ridiculously bad in execution. It felt like they lacked a good concept. Even though the personal conducting those events was very kind and nice, it did not make the event worth attending at all (e.g. coffee rituals session, group tennis) Misleading Michelin Star advertisement. While the food is good and the menu was apparently created by someone who worked at a Michelin star restaurant, guests can easily be lead to the misconception that it actually is advertised as a Michelin star restaurant, which it is not. Maybe consider sharpening the advertisements on the website. Fortulana Restaurant: selection of dishes on the menu appear rather mixed up and do not really follow a clear structure. Just a hint to consider an improvement hear. The food was nice in parts, but maybe a selection option would be a good concept too. Nocture: the vegetarian option is a joke - sorry to be so direct but you should be aware that people expect way more given the price level of the restaurant. Especially in relation to the non-vegetarian option, this was unacceptable

Overall it was a very nice stay, with some caveats here and there as...

THE POSITIVE: The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, nice modern design. The rooms feel modern and high tech. The sea view was amazing!! Rooms were very clean. The staff were really friendly and all really professionals, especially the pool waiters and the pool assistance, all very accommodating. The idea of reserving our bed pools was really good for such a busy hotel, unloading the stress from chasing every morning the right spot. The pool was great and quiet. Loved the fact that there is an in-pool bar, and also that is shallow enough to relax on any corner. The area, the sea view, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and calm since is adults only. The restaurant food was very nice with plenty of options each night, and the breakfast had everything we expected. We were also offered to stay after our check-out and use the spa showers, and that was very accommodating and nice of them.

THE NEGATIVE: The food at the pool bar was very bad. We were very disappointed of the quality and for that price tag, making it overpriced. Compared to other five-star hotels the food quality was 3 stars.

The walls are too thin. There was a situation where the neighbours at the first night were shouting and arguing at midnight. The hotel promptly send the security but he failed to figure out where they were, (even though we told him), he did not say anything to them, and the report he gave was that they were on the phone talking. In fact, they were arguing and shouting so bad we did not sleep until 2am, even when I told them to be quiet. The people from the room directly below them was outside their balcony as well, unable to sleep. The next day I was very disappointed to find out that no actions were taken and no plan was there to address this with the couple. Thankfully the couple left the next day so we did not had to deal with it. Also note that there is a bar across the hotel that plays loud music until midnight, in case anyone is after an early quiet sleep. We did not mind.

We tried to book one of the restaurants that we were allowed to for the evening as part of our half-board experience. Everything was fully booked, and we would have appreciated to be notified weeks ahead to make reservations instead of finding about it there, as what the staffhad suggested. We found availability to one of the fine-dining restaurants, which was just a room inside the hotel, but we were disappointed to learn that they needed us to wear fine clothing and long trousers. Again, we were not informed about it. We did have fine clothing to wear, but a nice shirt, good shoes, and nice trousers that were short did not count. The trousers specifically had to be long, in Pafos where the humidity is off the charts! Disappointing.

The fact that the pool beds are reserved made it a bit difficult for us to switch places at certain times based on the sun's position, as we needed to be under the shade.

We found our rooms small, the mattress not comfy as we felt the wires under it, and the pillows very bad giving as neck ache. With all the modern tech in the room, we would be happy to have those sacrificed for better comfort.

The corridors smelled badly, some areas did not have air con and we could feel the humidity in an instant.

There was Indian night at the restaurant, but not everyone can handle spicy food. It clearly felt that the staff were not prepared to address the fact that some people couldn't eat spicy food and there was no plan-b in place for such cases.

We were given the wrong bill at our check-out, and we were also charged a small amount for charity, without asking us first. We would be happy to leave something for charity, but you have to ask first. That was unprofessional.

Overall a great hotel but the high price sets up high expectations, hence our review.

Edit: the hotel management's reply is assuming we did not mentioned these issues instead of taking the review as constructive feedback. Yes, of course we mentioned...

Frustrating stay.

This is our 3rd stay at the Amavi, our previous 2 stays, both in pool cabana room were excellent. Unfortunately our 3rd stay again in a pool cabana room, failed to meet our expectations. Room issues became apparent post a late night check-in.

Over first few days a number of issues were apparent. We stayed in room 014. On 1st full day we had a black fly infestation in bathroom (a number of visits by a man with fly spray required, to eliminate issue). Tv was not working from day 1. After a few attempts at fixing, a new tv was installed, admittedly after 7 days. No TV in it self is not a great issue, but if you provide a tv, at least give me the chance to use it. Unfortunately when the new tv was installed, it was not connected to the sound bar. Sound was not great and not fed to the bathroom speakers. Our private pool light’s never worked for duration of stay Following a no water issue with hotel (I assume out of hotels control) private pool drain became very noisy (trying to drain, but no water to drain) and infinity edge of pool became dry. Apparently someone turned pool water off, which caused pool attempt to drain, but with no water?. Our room patio seating covers were stained/dirty and there was no comfortable padding left in cushions. This made sitting on them very uncomfortable, as you were sat on the base of chairs. Shower drain over course of stay, became very smelly. Simply sorted with some drain cleaner (both our cabana neighbours had same issue)

Feels like a tighter check needs to be made on room amenities and audio equipment, to ensure all pre occupation checks are approved as good to go. Any issues highlighted should be fast tracked to relevant teams to fix or contain the issues, pre guest occupancy. Occupants should be made aware of any outstanding issues, to avoid unnecessary reporting. It does appear that maintenance is fix on fail, with no preventative maintenance plan, to ensure simple issues never manifest themselves.

I raised all of our issues with Guest Services team, some on multiple occasions. Not once was I contacted verbally or physically by any team member to confirm what status was, or did I receive any indication if issue would/could be addressed.

We both felt that having paid £7k for an 11 day break, that we were somewhat let down by niggling issues which frankly could and should be addressed promptly, with appropriate feedback, especially if issue requires further investigation. In the end we gave up asking/chasing our issues.

Actually spoilt our holiday to the extent that we were glad to be going home. I totally understand that technology and isolated room issues occur, what seemed to be missing was any desire to react, fix or understand the root cause of issues.

On a positive note food and beverages choice/selection were all good, but personally for us, the buffet food was never really hot enough…although the plates are absolutely red hot :-). Just an observation not an issue.

All waiting, bars, pool team and cleaning staff are Amavi’s USP. All absolutely lovely and very helpful. Anna our room cleaner, was fantastic. Loved the Sunbed booking and allocation process. Food and drinks ordering via QR code was great. Hotel is is in a great position for access to Paphos strip and its bars and restaurants.

Would love to return to hotel, but maybe needs some tightening up in processes/procedures to capture and eliminate issues, before guests happen upon them. All our issues bar the pool water issue, would have been evident to hotel staff, pre check in. Just requires a team member to undertake some simple pre occupancy checks of av equipment and room facilities/amenities, to ensure rooms are at a required quality level. A simple tick/check list may be a good starting point.

We do hope to return and are thinking about a potential September visit to Paphos. Will it be Amavi again, jury is...
