I am writing this review from a manual wheelchair user point of view. The beach is advertised as wheelchair accessible online, but i found that it wasn't for me.
There is Blue Badge/Disabled parking in SODAP beach car park, which was FREE.
The promenade is wheelchair accessible, but to get to the beach and water itself is near impossible.
There is a man made zig zag ramp NEXT to Antasia Restaurant which leads to the beach. HOWEVER, once at the bottom you have 4 STEPS to navigate. Unless you have phenomenal wheelchair skills, a permanent wheelchair user cannot get down the steps. This is NOT wheelchair friendly!!!
At the bottom of the steps are wooden paths which lead near to the water, which is good, but NO use if you can't get to the beach. So depends on your disability.
Near the other ramp is a steep slope, which leads directly to the sand, but when i tried to go down it, my wheels kept spinning out of control due the the SAND that naturally collects on the slope.
I use crutches as well as a wheelchair, so in theory I could have wheeled my wheelchair down the zigzag ramp, got out and crutched it down four steps, but for me personally this is relatively dangerous, especially if the steps are sandy. I would need physical help.
It is very disheartening to see as the beach is advertised as accessible as per the sign and websites.
As with anything, it's doable if you have physical help from people, to carry your wheelchair down with you seated in it, but not if you simply want to be...
Read moreNice local beach, but don't go out of your way to visit it (if you want to travel, try Coral Bay instead. If you have a 4x4 or don't mind trekking, head to the beautiful Lara Bay). Sodap beach is quite rocky and seaweedy as you enter the water, so watch your step. Thankfully the cafe is now closed, so you can listen to the waves without hearing the cafe's music blaring out. Sunbed is €2.50, as is a sunshade. The guy taking money for sunbeds is hugely intolerant of people laying towels on the sand in what he considers to be his sunbed area. He shouts at them and claims they're causing an obstruction, pointing them towards a different part of the beach. I always get a bed anyway, but anyone wanting to drop in on the beach briefly, not paying for a sunbed, may be affected. I find this sort of confrontation uncomfortable to witness, and unnecessary. It's the main reason Sodap gets 3 and...
Read moreGreat sandy beach, might be the best in the area (south east, near kato paphos). The prices for umbrellas and chairs are fixed in all paphos; 2.5€ a piece. There's a parking right next to it, 1€ for 4 hours. The beach is clean and nice, but some areas have big rocks, so beware. There aren't any kiosks/bars nearby, so being your own food, but an ice cream truck came around noon. The beach is serviced by toilets, changing rooms, and showers. Life guards were there when we were,...
