Lovely hotel, stayed here for 10 nights with our 3 children for our familymoon.
We were unlucky to arrive so late and didn't get a lovely greeting with drinks like we see some guests arrive with but understandable at 1am. We also didn't have a porter to help with our luggage, not a real issue but expected at a 5* resort.
We used tui to book our holiday, and paid a substantial amount to upgrade our room to have pool and sea views. We were very disappointed when we walked out onto the balcony to find our view was mainly that of a rooftop, we wouldn't of mentioned anything if we hadn't paid so much for this "upgrade", the reception staff were very helpful and understanding, and offered another room for us the next day. This was pretty much the same, with another roof to stare at. We were eventually given a room with nicer views on the 4th floor.
Food & drinks
Great selection of drinks, cocktails are all lovely and made with premium alcohol. Kopperberg cider on tap which is a rare site abroad. Plenty of soft drinks / non alcoholic cocktails for the kids. Would ask for large soft drinks to save keep getting up to go to the bar in the day
In the evenings it is where we felt let down, outside seating is limited and if you don't manage to get a table with seats - you won't be able to get a drink!
There is no bar to walk upto and order a drink, it is all table service in the evenings, we enjoyed this most of the time but we were waiting a while once or twice
There is also a bar with table service in the entertainment section, which again was slow at times.
Breakfast we felt there was a nice selection of hot and cold food, yoghurts, fruit, cereals, breads, freshly made omelettes
Lunch time we all felt the buffet was a bit repetitive, but you could make a plate of food. We liked the snackateria area and had lunch here most days, fresh pizza, hot dogs, wraps, rolls, a selection of cakes and fruit. This is also where the ice cream was which was really good, aswell as the frozen yoghurt and milkshakes. Coffees & iced lattes here too
Evenings in the buffet were hit and miss but as a family of 5 we are all pretty fussy, they change the theme each night to mix things up a little but often the food was similar and would just have a few different flavours to cater for the theme.. The Mexican night we enjoyed the tacos and chillie con cane.
The Indian night was disappointing but had a few nice dishes to try, as an example of my above comment their bombey potatoes were just wedges with some coriander sprinkled over the top.
Italian night had a nice variety of pastas, the pizza wasn't great and this was at the back of the buffet every night.
The American diner was lovely and we all enjoyed the food in there, freshly made cesar salad at lunch one day, burgers with chips / loaded chips, enchilada with steak.
We did all eat at the oriental which was nice to try, 4 course meal and it was nice to try some different food - we all loved the chicken soup though its nothing like a standard soup you would get elsewhere! My salmon mains was lovely, as were my spring rolls to start and dessert.
There is also an Italian and place and captains deck, the Italian is adults only so we unfortunately did not get to try this out, other guests said this was very nice.
Overall the food was nice, I think it depended on what time you ventured down to eat on how fresh the food was.
Pools & sunbeds
This worked so well we think, we were a bit sceptical at first but very happy with how it all works, our first morning we had 2 beds on the grass area by the beach, and our allocated beds became available a few hours later. We were given options, and chose to sit by the children's pool to keep a closer eye on our little one.
This is pretty shallow, and has a small slide for kids to chill in. It curves round to other beds, and also has a water spout / umbrella with water dropping down into the pool at the other side
The other two pools were nice, one with a swim up bar. Staff are all amazing here - would recommend...
Read moreWe were very disappointed in our stay. I was going to provide feedback during checkout, but the only conversation from the staff after handing the lady our keys was for her to check the computer and say "thank you very much!" and turned to talk to another staff member. Too many low points to list, but here's a few.
In the 6 days we were in pool chairs in the afternoon, not one single staff member asked if we wanted anything from the bar. We saw them delivering to people, but not to us. Inside staff did well with asking, albeit the wait was sometimes very long and you'd sit with empty glasses for 10-15 minutes. Meal times were not posted anywhere we could find - not on the website, electronic signs, outside the rooms. We had to keep asking staff and trying to remember them all. Why not post the times? Nowhere in the website or during booking was it mentioned that only two restaurants would be open during out stay. You lean heavily on the "7 restaurants on site!" but we get there and only 2 are open. The whole stay felt like a warm up training session for new staff instead of a high quality vacation experience. Staff still repairing winter issues and landscaping, decorating things sent a message that the "real guests" will be here soon, but here's a 50% decent experience. Many of the apparently new staff members had no idea how to mix a simple drink. They would ask another staff member and then fumble through it, many times leaving out key ingredients and we end up throwing it out. Children running the hallways of our area at and past midnight, screaming in the halls during about 4 of our 6 nights. Lovely construction view from our balcony with a canvas of a fake jungle for a view did not really add to the ambiance of our balcony while listening to kitchen staff yell to each other and the constant banging of the trash or glass recycling. Felt like we lived in NYC instead of a tropical paradise. Old tvs in the room somehow did not have a standard USB port, so we could not even watch family movies on the usb stick we brought for that purpose. 3 stations were frozen for our whole stay and the only other channels were primarily news. Wow, so many choices and options for entertainment! The magician, ladies on ropes, and song and dance guy were just absolutely poor choices for entertainment options for the evening shows. All amateurish and seemed like they learned their "acts" a day prior to performance. 1 single worn, old billiards table for all guests. We're paying thousands of dollars for an inclusive resort and you're still charging a euro to play a worn out table with poor equipment - very tacky. 1 single ping-pong table. Literally nothing for my teenage kids to do during the day unless they wanted to swim in the indoor poor with 10 screaming toddlers. I had an allergic reaction to a nut allergy and the staff talked my wife into calling for the doctor "just to be safe." This 5 minute doctor visit cost me 220 euros. That's a little excessive for a 5 minute doctor and an antihistamine tablet. I was then called, emailed 5x, and hounded by the medical office for a follow-up appointment. When I finally agreed to meet in the lobby, the medical staff rep was late and called our room 3-4x. Not how I want to spend my holiday time.
Got the feeling that anybody staying here prior to 1 Apr was more a hotel-warm-up team for new staff than a guest. The "off-season" does not have to be that boring and lame. At the least, make people aware that the hotel is not operating at full speed prior to taking our money!
We were very disappointed overall with our experience in your "resort" and will not be returning to Cyprus again. When there weren't clam shell pieces and nut shells in my food, the quality of the meals was good. But there was just nothing to do for me and my family at this "resort" other than to sit around and drink alcohol. If I want to be surrounded by drunk British people, I'll just go to London for our next...
Read moreMy husband & I booked the hotel for our post wedding minimoon. In advance of our arrival I was in contact with the hotel to book a cab from the airport. I would recommend this, as we had someone waiting when we came through,& it could be charged to our hotel room. I had highlighted that we had got married 2 days before, & it was our minimoon. Unfortunately, nothing was mentioned, or done. I appreciate we didn’t have our wedding at the resort, but I was quite surprised that it was only when I said at the desk that we were on our minimoon that it was acknowledged & it certainly didn’t get us any upgrade etc. The layout of the hotel is good. We were in the adults only wing. We had a partial sea view, but were overlooking a carpark. The balcony was large, although it had no lighting, so you couldn’t easily sit out there and have a drink at night. Cleanliness was excellent. They do a turn down service & change towels in the evening which was a nice touch. What we did find odd though was that we were a late arrival. We anticipated a snack in our room, but the snack was left there (sandwich and jelly) the night after. We didn’t use the fridge, so it was only on the last day I noticed that the sandwich was still there. Rooms are quiet, have a good amount of plug sockets, & the bathroom is very nicely done. Not totally sure on the blind that opens in the bathroom though! The shower was powerful and never lacked hot water. Food wise it was impossible to book the on-site restaurants. The first time we tried the terminal wouldn’t work, & the 2nd time everything was fully booked for the whole week. We didn’t have a problem with the main restaurant though, the options were varied, catered for all tastes, & were always hot. They did have a very strange seating system. You were shown to a table, but half the time we were then told by someone else we couldn’t sit there, and all they were actually doing were wandering around looking for an empty seat; something we were perfectly able to do ourselves. Waiter service at meal times was poor; twice our drinks were totally forgotten, and 3 additional times we had to go and find someone to ask as we waited so long. They were very quick to take plates away, and though some people were saying food wasn’t replenished regularly we didn’t see this We mainly drank in the piano bar, or on the terrace. It was quite hard in the evening to get space outside on the terrace and the lighting was very bad so at times we struggled to play games. It was nice to have the majority of the areas non-smoking, but sad to see so many children being subjected to the smoking areas; not a reflection on the hotel of course, more on the parents! Drinks choice was good, and for the most part service ok. We found it quicker to go to the bar ourselves, but sometimes staff seemed to be a little affronted that we did that. The 2 young British boys on the terrace were a real credit to the hotel.
As we were in the adults only section we had access to the adults only pool. This was brilliant. Stella and Marianna were so lovely, and it was nice to have the allocated sunbeds and little touches such as cucumber for your eyes, glasses cleaning, and regular drinks brought to your table. You noticed when they were off; although we mostly returned our glasses directly to the bar, I had left one on the side in the morning, and it was still there at 4pm. When they were there everything was cleared away within minutes. Being able to swim up to the bar was a nice feature. Lifeguards were very good on ensuring people didn’t just come in, and I felt comfortable leaving my bags there all day. The sunbeds were really comfy too. We only went once to watch the entertainment; it isn’t really our thing so we didn’t massively enjoy it but I did think the male singing in particular was good, and it was clear that a lot of people were really enjoying themselves. I think this was more us than a reflection on the...
