This was our second stay at this Orea hotel in Mariánské Lázně. We were pleased with our stay in 2023, so decided to stay again in 2024. Our stay was at the end of August, transitioning into September; when it was still very hot in Czechland and around 30 degrees Celsius. The hotel is very nice, clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly. It has good spa facilities and you can have allsorts done there. We only used the pool and had a bubble bath, which was very nice The pool is quite small, not so great for swimming laps, but good for relaxing in. We picked a smaller room than last year, without the lounge area, but it was perfectly roomy enough with a large bathroom. The bathroom had a bidet, if you want that full European experience. We had a balcony this time, which provided good views across the park. The buffet breakfast and dinners are excellent. You really can't ask for much more. Plenty of cooked and cold options, which can be overwhelming at times. There's machine coffee and a barista at breakfast. You can help yourself to pretty much as much as you want at breakfast. The only complaint I have with this visit is that we had a leak in the bathroom which wasn't resolved after notifying reception. You know how you complain to someone sometimes and you remain unconvinced anything will happen. When we left the hotel the receptionist did assure me that maintenance had been notified, but they never turned up. Fortunately we'd ordered the romance package of roses and wine on our arrival, so I had a handy ice bucket to place under the sink to catch the offending drips. This did have the consequence of me not letting in the cleaners for the rest of our stay, as I was paranoid they'd take my ice bucket away and we'd be left with an unresolved drip. Overall we enjoyed our stay and this hotel makes a good base for exploring the town and surrounding area, as well as enjoying the spa facilities. Please note that some activities and facilities are not found in this hotel and you have to go down to another Orea hotel, the Cristal, if you want to utilise them. This hotel however is family friendly and during the school holidays period there is a...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for two nights in late September, ‘22. It was convenient and comfortable. The Palace is one of the Orea group of hotels, of which there about five in Marianske. It is in a very good location, at the upper end of Promenade Park, about in line with the Singing Fountain and the landmark spa pavilion. The Central Parking structure is just around the corner, and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. I think the Palace and the Zvon were at one time two separate hotels and now have a connecting lobby. Meals are served in the Zvon dining room, and that is also where we checked in. An extensive array of spa facilities is available in the basement level of the Palace.||||Our room (408) was attractive and comfortable. Our view was of the mountainside rather than the park, but was still quite pleasant. It was a good-sized room but there wasn’t much room for luggage other than one rack. The decor was cute turn-of-the-century style. There was a comfortable king bed, a dresser & desk, a cabinet with a small refrigerator, a round table with two arm chairs at the foot of the bed – nicely appointed but a little crowded. There were two night stands but no outlets, and a good-sized closet in the entry hallway with a safe. The attractive marble tiled bathroom had a tub/shower combination, and a heated towel rack, a nice feature. There was very little counter space, however.||||Our room rate came with half-board. The meals were served buffet-style in the large restaurant of the Zvon. Open seating meant it became somewhat crowded at times, with overflow seating in the adjacent Palace lounge area. The breakfast selection was quite good. Dinner was rather standard fare and didn’t seem to vary the two nights we ate there. There are several highly rated restaurants nearby.||||Overall, the Orea Palace Zvon is a comfortable and well located spa hotel and would be a good choice for...
Read moreThis hotel has some strengths - like its breakfast which is varied and good quality, and location (super central and right next to the colonnade). It is also very clean. Unfortunately it also has many weaknesses which can be easily remedied but maybe the management doesn’t care enough:
peeling paint of the doors and cracked glass in photo frames give it a shabby feel no amenities in the bathroom - just a 2 in one liquid soap despite being a 4* poor spa offering: the pool bar was always shut, mosaic falling off. We got a massage which was more of a rub, with blaring 80s soft rock in the background which was very odd. The masseuse didn’t ask to customise the treatment or make it relaxing, it felt very much like a massage factory and like they were glad to get it over and done with quickly room has no AC so it is very warm, and has no fans. Sun is bright in the morning and right into the room, and the curtains aren’t blackout so you’re invariably woken up at 7am the reception area is in pitch darkness after 9 or 10pm, which is dangerous and unnecessary there is a musty smell in the reception area and corridors which could be rectified with air fresheners. It smells a little like a care home dinner service ends at 8pm. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere with such an early dinner service
I’m not sure of what other hotels in the area offer but maybe it’s worth a look around before...
