You can't fault the location, right in the middle of town, and the breakfast was a pleasant surprise - as well as the standard continental buffet there was the option of freshly cooked eggs - fried with ham or scrambled - served to order. ||Our apartment at the front of the building was generous in size but furnishings were a bit basic, and the tramline right outside the window means that a room at the back would have meant a better night's sleep.||If you're travelling by car, save yourself anxiety and steer clear of the on-site parking, it's only reached through a very narrow archway with extended lumps at ground level - we gave up and the only car of similar size that was in the car park itself had a big door dent. Coincidence?||Friendly and efficient staff were apologetic, but it's a protected building and there's not much they can do. Free street parking is available not too far away and even metered parking nearby isn't expensive.||Olomouc itself is a lovely little town, laidback and packed with heritage and a far bit of hipster cool, well worth an overnight stay or two if you...
Read moreFriendly helpful receptionist who spoke very good German and English and gave us a good dinner restaurant recommendation. Walking distance to town. Had no problem parking our motorcycle in the courtyard (100 Kč per day),but as people have mentioned, the entrance is a bit narrow. To get to our room we had to walk up a flight of stairs and go outside over a balcony, which was a bit strange, but the room made up for that:it was very large, with a small hallway and separate bathroom with shower and toilet. There was a fridge and TV. Beds were very comfortable. Light sleepers might be awakened in the early morning by the tram. WiFi was slow. Breakfast buffet was good, only found out later we could have had freshly cooked eggs. Coffee was in thermos flasks on the tables. Olomouc is a lovely old town, with a lot of young people because of the university. One of the nicest towns we visited in the...
Read moreStayed for 2 nights at Pension U Jakuba. Reception staff were lovely and very friendly. The rooms were clean and functional. Basic decor and the bathroom doesn't have any hooks to hang towels and the toilet roll is just stuck between the heater rails. Our basin had huge cracks and sharp edges that could really slice your fingers. The beds are pretty comfy and we had 2 lovely big windows we could open to let air in because there isn't any airconditioning or fan in the room. The only problem with this is the noise and cigarette smoke that also comes in. The rooms are non smoking but there is smoking on the balconies so smoke wafts in. If you are a smoker this shouldn't be a problem and noise can be blocked with earplugs. Overall for the price and location it is not bad value. Breakfast is available for a few extra dollars but we didn't try it but previous reviews have all said...
