We stayed a night here on our car tour of Czech Republic. The entrance to Penzion Solnice is very modest, just the name over a gated driveway entrance, but through the gate and up the driveway you reach a small, attractively landscaped courtyard at their front door. This was a great stay -- Alexandra and her husband have done a wonderful renovation of the property. Although everything has been modernized, there is still a discernible heritage atmosphere. There is a stunning "glass" staircase that leads to the upper floors. We were up 2 floors -- there is no lift, but Alexandra insisted on carrying our bags. Our room was very large, and very comfortable -- also very quiet! The bathroom was large too, spotlessly clean and with lots of water pressure and hot water. My only complaint would be that that Wi-Fi was very weak -- I had to sit in our entrance hallway area to get a signal, and even then it was not very strong. No matter, really, we were tired after a day on the road, but if I had something important to do, I would have had to go down to the main floor, where the signal was MUCH stronger. The ground floor area is done up as a comfortable lounge area, with sofas and a fireplace. Local wines are available for sale from a self-serve refrigerator. We had an excellent breakfast, with all the usual self-serve choices. As well, Alexandra cooked eggs to order. She also was enormously helpful with travel and sight-seeing advice around the town. With a bit of car-jockeying, we were able to park in their courtyard; otherwise there is paid parking on the street -- check for which spots are reserved for local permits, and which are available for...
Read moreThe biggest value of this hotel is the lady on reception. She answered all our questions about town, food, wine, local events, nature and even more. We spent one weekend in Znojmo in the National Park nearby - Podyji, we checked all the open historical buildings, underground passages, local pubs and restaurants. Without her recomendation we wouldn´t find the best home made pasta restaurant in Czech Republic or Znojmo wine trail in Podyji. Rooms were spacious, clean, view - nothing special, breakfast was good. If you wanna experience Znojmo in the best posssible way, this place gives you good location and plenty of...
