Casa El Eden (CEE) was WONDERFUL in every way. After booking, the CEE team easily arranged airport transfer upon request. Our flight got in late but the driver was waiting and pointed out different landmarks and Quito facts as we drove.
When we arrived at CEE, owner Mario was there to greet us and show us to our room. The Spanish Colonial style B&B was cozy and beautiful with all floors looking down onto a central courtyard. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The street noise was audible but not sleep-inhibiting.
Breakfast was lovely with fresh bread and jam, cafe con leche, eggs cooked to your liking and fresh blended juice. We were always full when we left the table! Mario and his wife Blanca were friendly and helpful with recommendations on what to see and do around the city. Mario also helped us practice our Spanish, and we enjoyed chatting with him.
The B&B itself is centrally located. We could walk 5 minutes to the museums and churches in Old Town. It was also a short cab ride or scooter ride to the other sites like the virgin of Quito, the botanic gardens, the Observatory and more. Speaking of scooters, Mario let us park ours inside the lobby for no additional charge as street parking was non-existent. If we wanted to relax, there is a nice rooftop lounge area with cerveza and a great view!
Bottom line- we felt very at home, the owners are friendly and welcoming and the establishment itself is tasteful, quiet and clean. Not to mention the beautiful architecture. I'm sure there are other great places to stay in Quito, but we are loyal CEE fans now and wouldn't hesitate to book again if we travel to Quito. Stop searching and book your stay ASAP. Casa El Eden is THE place to stay when you're in town!
Thanks Mario (and Blanca) for your...
Read moreMario and Blanca run a fantastic operation at Casa El Eden. We are just off a four-night stay with them and couldn’t be happier with our visit.
Mario could not have been kinder and more helpful. Want something specific? He can help. Laundry needed? Same day. Need a recommendation or info? Done - and/or he calls a friend. He really went out of his way to ensure that our every question was answered, and every need met. He helped arrange airport transportation both ways and even helped deliver some paintings that we acquired in Quito but were not taking with us right away. He stays up late awaiting the taxi driver when he knows you are coming in, and he always beats you to the front door to unlock it and usher you in or out. Just an all-around incredible proprietor and gracious host.
The building itself is a refurbished house in Quito’s Old Town, with all of the charm that that entails. The rooms are situated around a central, covered courtyard that fills the space with light. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and modern (the bathroom in particular!)
Breakfast was always freshly prepared and delicious. After several big dinners, we typically had to eat rather light in the mornings but Mario and/or Blanca were always kind enough to send coffee up to our room when this was the case.
I’d give them 10/10 and would happily return to Casa El Eden in a future...

Mario and Blanca were always present and incredibly helpful with every request.|We booked several one-day tours through the hotel (visible on their website), and their guides were professional and knowledgeable about Quito and beyond (Mindo, Cotopaxi, Otavalo, Baños, Cuenca, etc.). These connections proved valuable throughout our trip.|The hotel experience was wonderfully personal. Mario personally introduced guests to each other at intimate breakfasts in the amazing patio, surrounded by unique furniture, wall paintings, fun rooms, and a fine library.|Our room (Chirimaya) was massive with a fantastic in-room shower. We chose it because it faced the street rather than the covered patio and the street wasn’t noisy at all. Several mornings and evenings we took hotel ponchos to the rooftop to read and watch the city. You can easily see the Virgin of El Panecillo monument from there.|We felt very safe throughout our stay. Of course, take appropriate precautions in any bustling city: Keep your passport and most cash in a belt under your clothes and don’t stop staring at your phone in the middle of the street. One tip: use the metro! It’s modern, feels safe, runs smoothly and quietly, and costs just $0.50 regardless of...
