Hostal Casa CarpeDM — Hotel in Centro Histórico

We arrived late at night, at 00:30, when we first arrived we were told to be quiet. And to speak in silent even though we weren't screaming just saying hello. The first impression was a bit bad (but also because we got stolen on the bus from baños, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU'RE TAKING A LATE BUS. DON'T LEAVE YOUR YOUR STUFF UNDER YOUR LEGS. DON'T SAY IT WON'T HAPPEN TO ME). So we arrived from the terminal in the south and paid 10$ (we've been told it's a fair price don't go up if it's more than that, negotiate) when we entered the room, it was very clean, the beds are tall and the mattress is comfortable, there are body towels and a small towel for the hands, soap, TV the WiFi is great, there was even two glasses of water! There are light above each bed! When we woke up to go to the police station the manager took care of us and arranged someone to help us, it was very kind. Changed our impression. The breakfast is just what you need (eggs, granola, yogurt, fruits, juice, coffee, bread, jam, water), you just have to wash your plates after thr breakfast, the view is nice! When we arrived in the afternoon the room was cleaned and it felt like an hotel. The location is not thr best in my opinion but it's not very far. It's close to parque san blas... Not a place to get to know people, each one to himself... This is the atmosphere in here, but it's if you're not looking to make new friends. Starting several weeks before our stay, Fher and Kathy were answering questions and providing travel advice. With the state of emergency called 10 days before our stay we were a bit concerned but the staff were a great reassuance and resource about what was happening in Quito and Ecuador. I had booked excursions prior to booking my stay at Casa carpeDM. Had I spoke to the staff sooner, I would have booked more of my excursions (such as the Amazon) through their agency. The hostel itself is clean and well situated. The area is quiet, and you will get a good sleep, which is why i initially picked it. There's good wifi and hot water. We enjoyed the breakfast there. I would definitely advise you book the airport transfer with them as it's half the price others were paying for airport cabs. Fher was an excellent host and great resource. She definitely makes the stay enjoyable and was a huge help before and during our stay. We had an excellent holiday in Ecuador and are so thankful we didn't cancel.
