stayed on and off at Latin brothers house for three months because it felt like a home to me. It felt like anywhere I ventured to I was always going to return to this place. Oscar, the owner, is a treasure. He's laid back, friendly, inclusive and always wants to help. He's interested in culture and will share that enthusiasm with any guest that wants to join him in his casual saunter to a local event as he tells you the history or significance of local buildings which in my experience seemed quite frequent. There always seemed to be a fiesta or one coming soon. And he'll lead the brigade to the close by outdoor gig. I saw an orchestra in teatro even if we did arrive a little late! Furthermore he gives Spanish lessons to the unfamiliar which were extremely helpful in getting me started here in ecuador. Hadn't spoken a word before I got here and the man knows how to teach. And it seems effortless to him. He lent me his bike, he trusted me with that and it just shows the altruism that this man displays. He is accepting of all tourists and his self proclaimed country is the world. A phrase that permeated the entire hostel as I stayed there. Flags of different nations on display and a 3d map of South America too. He loved Irish english French Bularians and Russians of course. Any nation visiting his house and he gave them great respect. Except for one absolute shite who kicked his dog aggressively and repeatedly. A disgusting guest. One of my favourite members of that casa was dobby the doggy. That's not actually his name BUT thats how I pronounced it phonetically. And I shouldn't only mention Oscar because there are always sound people there. And enough about soundness Showers are hot. That's definitely sound. Beds are warm comfortable and noisy....

Their English was a bit limited, but so was my Spanish, so that kept it fair, haha. It was never a problem, though (and Google translate is your friend in those cases).||||The atmosphere at the hostel is relaxed. Outside it can feel a bit unsafe (well, let's call a spade a spade; it IS unsafe). Just keep your head on and, if possible, travel with more people. For those animal lovers among you, know that the hostel is animal friendly. I miss my buddy Luciano (the cat) and even that crazy dog Toby, hahaha. I had a nice room on the rooftop with a great view. However, in the evening people often gathered there to talk, drink and play music, so if you're a light sleeper, keep this in mind. Another thing is that cooking there is a bit of a challenge. The kitchen if often occupied and there are not enough pots, pans, cups and cooking utensils. Also, it's not the most hygienic place in the hostel. Wifi can be a bit slow at times (at least on the rooftop).||||In my last week a man tried to rob me in broad daylight in the south of Quito (Villaflora) and I ended up being hit by a bus. I got away with four broken ribs, a broken shoulder and a huge cut in the back of my head. When I returned to the hostel after a two night hospital visit, Oscar and Octavio were very gracious with me. Even if I was in a lot of pain and could barely sleep, I was comfortable there.||||Overall, this is a nice hostel to stay for a budget traveler and it has a...
