My husband and I live in Cuenca but wanted a mini-getaway for our wedding anniversary. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by name and offered a complimentary adult beverage. Great way to start! Since my husband had told them ahead of time about our anniversary, they gave us a fantastic room that overlooks the garden and river. The room was a little small, but it was very pretty. The wall facing the river is all glass and continues into the bathroom. (There is an architectural feature that artfully covers the lower half of the glass however). The windows turn inward to great a wonderful breeze and river sound. For dinner, we ate in their restaurant, El Jardin. We had the langostinos, which were beautifully cooked, followed by coffee and martinis. Our table had the same river view. We had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning (it comes with the room price). There was a nice assortment of sliced fruit, yogurt/granola, rolls, fresh juice, followed by scrambled eggs and bacon. Coffee was delicious. There were only 2 minor things that I didn't like, but they didn't alter the overall experience: the tub stopper didn't stay in (kind of a downer, tubs aren't that common in Cuenca!), and at breakfast the next morning I wasn't served a 2nd cup of coffee even though I asked twice (in Spanish mind you!). There were not that many people in the restaurant, and more than once I saw him with coffee pot in hand, but it appeared that he made a point of avoiding us. No biggie, perhaps it was only a one-cup max with breakfast. I would've paid for it if that was the case, it just seemed a bit odd. Regardless, we had a great stay and will definitely consider them for our...

Avery charming hotel with charming common spaces and plesant and helpful staff. |Had a room with a terrace balcony and the views were beautiful. Room itself was a bit small but took on the openness of the terrace and had ambient light through during the day.|Toilets are a bit dated, and water pressure was a tad slow. Breakfast was nice and you can order some hot options as well. The hotel is very conveniently situated to visit the entire downtown and its attractions by food. The entire road and surrounds have a number of great dining options. I should mention that it gets very noisy over the weekends with loud music blaring almost until dawn. We were less affected as our room faced the back of the building. Noise did seep through and had a pretty restless night. Weekdays are fine though. |A nice option to stay...

The hotel was very olde worldly. The room we were given was quite small and close to the lift which made it noisy. There was also a lot of traffic noise from outside. There were lots of places to eat with in walking distance and a good barbers just across the road. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was not a buffet but was served...a plate of mixed fruit, a choice of scrambled or fried eggs with ham or bacon, a glass of yogurt a portion of granola and one roll and one croissant. Getting milk for the tea was a challenge. We opted not to eat there in the evening as prices were expensive. It was in a good location for walking round Cuenca.

We went here for lunch, we were told that this a nice place to eat. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent he table was just the right size. We sat by the window where we had a nice view of the trees, the traffic noise was acceptable and not constant. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and the menu was quite extensive. All of our choices were received well except for one desert that was not a expected, but it did not go to waste. The bathrooms are worth look nice stained glass windows. Definitely a place to return for nice surroundings food and conversation, do not let the price put you off.
