We stayed in this hostal for three months (sept-dec) during our time in Cuenca while we were working on voluntary projects. ||||It is only one of few hostals with a kitchen, which you can use without restrictions. The kitchen is on the top floor. There are a lot of pots and pans, the only real thing missing is a good knife. The kitchen is cleaned twice a week, about the fridge I´m not sure... There´s a shared room where you can watch TV or just hang out. During our time here, a new router was installed because the wifi didn´t reach all of the rooms. After that the problem was solved!||||We stayed in the room on the backside of the hostal on the top floor. Usually we didn´t have a lot of problems with noise, but sometimes on thu-sat when the bar downstairs is full you can experience some discomfort. (Especially in the rooms on the front side of the hostal). The prices of rooms are subject to negotiation, if you plan to stay longer you should ask for discount. Our room was cleand weekly.||||Situated on the calle Larga, everything you might need is close. Two big markets and a supermarket are within a 10 minute walk radius and two smaller shops are right across the street. During the weekends there are a few bars with life music and if you cross the river you´ll find the parque de la madre, with lots of events and a running track.||||The owners, Wilson and Esperanza, are lovely people and will try to help you in every way they can (They´re nog always available during the day). This hostal is the best option if you need a good place to...
Read moreAfter having to go across the street to even find who to talk to about a room, we ended up in the loudest hallway - complete with crying babies. We were stuck with a shared bathroom set up because it was apparently full (we saw no other people…). For this set up they usually give you toilet paper but I had to ask for it and she told me to go across the street (to her daughter's store) and buy some which would be charged to the hostel. Wow, great service! The bathroom toilet was gross and obviously had not been cleaned in a few days. The stream of water coming from the shower head soaked the roof and the rest of the bathroom and it was freezing cold (even after letting it run for 5 minutes). The room was cute and the bed was comfortable but we were woken up at 6am by their handy-man. It was a beautiful view of the new town and a quaint (although rather large) building and we went here because it had a rating of 95+%, but I CANNOT see why. There are plenty of other hostels which are CHEAPER and better than this one. They need to step it up if they want to compete. We left after one night and spent the next 4 nights at a wonderful hostel...
Read moreI stayed several nights here and while I like the room layout and LOVE the area, view and friendly staff; the hostal feels very run down in several ways. It's certainly old and creeky, has really cheap beds/pillows/sheets and very few dishes in the kitchen. All of the dish rags are very dirty. You are given toilet paper for your personal room and expected to carry it with you to the bathrooms; not a big deal though. The bathroom right next to our room smelled like a rotting fish market the entire time we were there. I bought air freshener and sprayed the hell out of it to no avail. The staff doesn't really clean except for when you check-out but that's not a big deal either. Our room was very noisy from traffic in the morning so we always got up early. The upstairs has big windows that look over the city in either direction which was really cool, and you're right...
