Malecón Guesthouse — Hotel in Guayaquil

I actually have no idea how this place has good reviews.

The rooms are cement sweat boxes with no air conditioning, windows, or air flow. It was at least 5C hotter inside than outside.

When I arrived I had to wait about 15 minutes to be let in and only because I ended up calling the owner. This ended up being a repetitive thing, he wouldn't answer the door bell or texts, would only come down if you called him.

When I arrived he pointed at the room and then threw linen at me to make my own bed. There were bits all over the bed and it did not feel clean at all. I've never in all my years of travel been expected to make my own bed on arrival. This wasn't a last minute booking either, I'd booked about two weeks in advance.

The owner refused to give me a key, which means I couldn't go in or out without finding someone to let me pass, this was a nightmare. Normally I am in the gym by 530am so clearly was an issue.

There is no kitchen, lounge, or hang out area.

There are only two lockers for a dorm of 6.

The rooms and beds do not look like the pictures at all.

The only good thing about this place is the location is opposite...

We had a fantastic short stay at this hostel. Kaj was extremely helpful in getting us situated in Ecuador after travelling from Peru. He helped us get money out, find a sim for a good price and gave us so many recommendations for our trip up the Ecuador cost. Our room was clean, quiet and had two fans for us to use. Would recommend staying here for an affordable and comfortable stay. No concuerdo con Emma Ives, Lamento mucho que tu experiencia no haya sido positiva, pero siento que tu comentario no refleja en absoluto lo que yo viví durante mi estadía en Malecón Guest House. Creo que es importante ser justo, y en mi caso, puedo decir con total honestidad que el lugar superó mis expectativas.

En primer lugar, las habitaciones cuentan con aire acondicionado y son tal cual se ven en las fotografías: cómodas, limpias y bien mantenidas. Mi cama estaba impecable y ya lista al momento de llegar, con ropa de cama fresca y de buena calidad. Si hubo algún problema de comunicación en tu caso, no fue lo que experimenté; KAJ fue un anfitrión excepcional, siempre atento y dispuesto a ayudar en todo momento. Incluso me dejó recomendaciones geniales para explorar Guayaquil.

En cuanto a la seguridad, tener un sistema de acceso controlado me pareció excelente porque me sentí muy tranquilo durante toda mi estadía. Además, siempre hubo alguien disponible para ayudarme a entrar o salir, así que nunca fue un problema.

Por último, la ubicación es simplemente perfecta, justo frente al Malecón 2000, con una vista increíble y acceso a todo lo que hace de Guayaquil una ciudad tan vibrante. ¡Fue una experiencia fantástica que no dudaría en repetir!

Sinceramente, creo que tu opinión no le hace justicia al lugar ni al esfuerzo que KAJ pone para que los huéspedes se sientan cómodos. Para mí, Malecón Guest House fue una experiencia de 10/10.
