Me and my girlfriend stayed at Jhomana guesthouse for six nights. Patrick was great - he was very knowledgeable of the area and offered different ideas of things to do in the spare time between day trips and activities. He sorted us out with the Amazon 4 day stay - I definitely recommend!!! |We had the same room throughout the trip, and as we only initially intended to stay two nights - the extension to six days was a great choice. Rooms were clean, showers hot - perfect. Location was good - away from the noise of the main square, and we felt safe as there is a police station next door. Jhomana is only five minutes walk to Foch Square full of bars and restaurants. Also if you do meet Patrick - get hold of his walking tour page, it gives you directions step by step to each point of interest in the old town. |The included breakfast was a bonus !||Thank you Patrick + staff for a great stay!||Kind...
Read moreI spent the first 5 days of my Ecuador trip in Quito at the Jhomana. I only pre-booked 3 nights, just in case it didn't work for me.||||Upon arriving in the middle of the night, the taxi driver knew the hotel (even though it is small and modestly priced). I immediately felt safe (a 63 yr old, solo traveler) for I was was warmly greeted and helped to my room and even given a suggestion for getting to Otavalo and Cotacachi the next day. Patrick gave me such good advice, help and wonderful historical information about Ecuador that I extended my stay a couple of nights and used the Jhomana as my base.||||Don't get me wrong, this is not a fancy place. But it's so warm, comfortable and Ecuadorian that it's understandable why visitors continue to return to the country as well...
Read moreOur stay at Jhomana was fine, but not great. We had arranged pick up from the airport and that went well. However, when we arrived, the receptionist said that they didn't have any of the room we reserved so did we want to stay in separate rooms (or maybe separate beds? I can't remember). We said no so she ended up finding us a double room. I don't think it was quite what we booked but we didn't make a big deal of it.||||Very cold showers and no wifi in the room. Also a lamp had a really fried cord so we were too scared to use it! Breakfasts were pretty good and most of the receptionists spoke English and were helpful (just one didn't speak any English). ||||I had read recommendations to stay in la Mariscal area but I wish we had just stayed in Old...
