SCAAAAAM!!! Me and my partner booked a three-night stay in the spacious deluxe room with balcony 3 weeks in advance only to be escorted to a tiny box type single room sticking of sewage and a prison like window with a view of Mordor. After mentioning that it’s not the room we booked we were told that that’s the only room they’ve got left and the rest of the rooms are taken. I said it wasn’t fair on us and they laughed sarcastically and said ‘well, if you don’t like something - go stay in another hotel’! We tried to book another hotel, but because it was already past midnight it was impossible to make any reservations for that night, we had no choice but to stay in that stinky single room. They started asking us to cancel our reservation on booking com or otherwise pay the full deluxe room price for three nights. I didn’t want to cancel as it was my proof of staying at the place so I could make a formal complaint later. The manager wouldn’t talk to me as he, quote, ‘was tired’. After 2 hours of arguing with me, laughing at me and lying to me trying to either prove that I booked the wrong room (I showed the evidence and proved them wrong!) or that booking com ‘doesn’t guarantee you the room you pick’ they cancelled the booking themselves and made me pay for the single room outside of the booking.com system. The price was £2 less compared to the deluxe room lol (it was their ‘generous discount for my inconvenience’) - I don’t think these pretty deluxe rooms you see in pictures actually exist in this place. We ended up checking in at 4am (we arrived at 12:30am) and I couldn’t even sleep because of the bathroom smell. Neither Wi fi or my network connection worked there, so I had to wait for the next day to book a different hotel (Castello hotel is a walking distance in case someone gets in the same situation and they are honest and good people). Next morning I asked a woman at the reception if there were those nice rooms available hoping that maybe she could help, but instead she started shouting at me saying that there was a leakage in the room we booked which sounded like yet another made up lie as no one mentioned that the night before. I asked her why they didn’t warn me to what she said- ‘what was the point? You should have just booked a different hotel’ then in the middle of me responding she picked up the phone and started casually chatting with someone. After that that horrendous woman wouldn’t even acknowledge us. Shocking ‘customer service’! I’m absolutely appalled by this experience, I never really complain about anything and I’m not an argumentative person, but this attitude, this audacity made me so frustrated and upset and it is such a shame that this hotel’s management/staff would scam travellers (those who basically feed them) ruining their holiday. God...

I read other comments before choosing this hotel. After staying in this hotel several nights, I understand the deceptions. My recommendation is, if you offer your future bride an unforgettable, lovely, luxurious stays in Cairo and you come with your bride in this hotel, you can be sure that you will stay in this hotel alone. The hotel is not luxurious, it doesn't merit 3* according to American or European standards. Many people evaluated this hotel 1/5 due to their norms of 3 stars hotels. What about us? We ordered in advance the service Welcome Pickup at the airport, the driver did not show up, we got zero information from hotel and we waited for the driver 45 minutes before deciding taking a taxi. At this point, Zero point. We arrived in the hotel, it's amazing to take a lift of year 1900. I am an engineer, but I cannot understand how it still works. Amazinly funny!!! There is a guy who serves the lift. So...2 points. At reception, we found very kind, helpful, polite, smiling people. We understand that it looks like a family business. They continuously say sorry for missing us at the airport. We feel really comfortable with these people. Some guys speak quite well in English, while others not at all. We love such people. We offer them 4 points. Room? Oh yes, I agree with other people. Room is not 3 stars. Hot water is sometimes too hot, sometimes cold, usually the water pressure changing. The bathroom design is not top. You may spread water everywhere while taking your shower. Beds are okey for us, they are clearly not for your honeymoon. But when we just sleep here during night, we don't care too much. Aieee... you might be visited by some mosquitos. We killed all of them. We rate this topic 3 points. The hotel is in between an on-going construction. We really enjoy passing the roads inbetween moving cars. This is everywhere in Cairo. Have fun! The hotel is really close to Nile, and other nice places. Around 1km, we found many restaurants, highly appreciated, and not expensive. We offer 4 points. The hotel is relatively clean, cleaners pass and clean daily, always with huge smiles. When we need something, we just asked, they do they best. Lovely! 5 points for a hotel of...2 stars hihi. Breakfast. This is not 5 stars hotel with many guesses, in Cairo. So we are okay with this limited service. People are gentle, so generous: we asked coffee without sugar, but we got sugar, finally that'sot so bad. 3 points. I wouldn't give an average point, because this is not correct, expectations of people are different. I prefer nice people to luxury buildings. Therefore I generously offer this establishment 4 points. Keep your heart generous, keep your smiles...

SHADY BUSINESS ALERT! Dear fellow tourists, do pay attention to the bad ratings of this place. This really IS NOT an honest business. And there is nothing Delux there. As other foreigners said it. Good ratings are mostly egyptian, so i guess the fake ones. These people are scammers. They wanted to charge us more than stated at the Booking site. We did not want to, so they started telling lies, etc. Like to write to Booking that we waive the booking fee to them (that does not exist), than that the card machine is not working, bank account suspended, only to find out that they cancelled our reservation themselves (although we stayed there for 2 nights) so that they do not pay the fee to the Booking. Booking should not be working with scammers like this. And not to mention that the place is in an old and dirty building, noisy street, horrible bathrooms. Would never ever step my foot there if my life depended on it. It is really sad to see that this is the way to do business in that country.

First off, its Africa welcome to mosquitoes, and they do spray daily. The hotel is definitely old, circa 1910's and the upgrades are minimal. However the AC works, the toilet, sink and shower worked fine for me. I went all inclusive and the home cooked meals are more than a normal person can eat. All Egyptian and very good. The bed is comfy, nothing spectacular, but its a bed. I walked to most places I wanted to see (20 - 30 minutes) but Uber'ed to the Pryamids (obviously) and the market (massive road). There are shops, stores and little markets everywhere close by. If you dont want to spend an arm and a leg, and experience "old Cairo" this is the place. Dont let the elevator scare you. Great family run hotel, great people, felt welcome and appreciated. More pics to follow (on my other phone)
