Wust El Balad Restaurant - مطعم وسط البلد — Restaurant in Cairo

Brilliant little place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's a small place, easy to walk by but it is well worth seeking out and trying. The staff (2 ladies) were so friendly on our arrival and took time to explain the menu. We opted for 1 Liver with side salad, 1 chicken pane with spaghetti pomodoro with side salad, we also had a cappuccino and a fresh lemon juice - all for 190egp. The food was delicious. Prepared and cooked with love and well presented.

There is a lovely small balcony, with just 1 table and 2 chairs on the first floor that allows you to sit and watch the hustle and bustle of Cairo as it goes by. We will be returning to try more dishes. On our way out I asked about breakfast and was given a taster of their breakfast bread which was absolutely delicious. It was similar to Moroccan bread that I have had in a Riad for breakfast. Light, almost pastry like, similar to a flat croissant. I can't wait to return. See you there soon. We needed a late night quick meal and this was a good walk from our hotel.

Food was prepared quickly and staff friendly. Some may not be keen on the cleanliness, no toilets here to use.

We got two medium kofte wrap with onion and peppers and they tasted great.

Very cheap at 40 EGP per Medium Kofte.

Limited space to sit inside ( max seating 2 x 2 tables) so you may need to takeaway but we went around 11pm and got a seat for 2.

This place is unique by their way of making food. They offer different delicious platters that reminds you of your mother's cooking.

I have tried pasta with red sauce and fried pané and also sujok in another time and it's really good.

If you are tired of eating fast food on the way this is the right place to treat yourself with a homemade like food.
