As my recent holiday plans brought me to Cairo with all the ancient attractions and vibrant culture, I found myself a bit lost in the choice of Hotels the City has to offer. Finally I decided for the Om Khaltoum Hotel in Zamalek and was a great deal!||To me, Cairo is not Cairo without this Hotel, spreading the feeling of a Diva full of vibrant life and many stories and, as soon as you enter the beautiful lobby, you get the feeling of Om Klathoum discreetly sitting on a Sofa, sipping mint tea and waiting her Chauffeur.||The location couldn’t be better, centrally placed, right in the upscale district of Zamalek, close to various museums and some of the best restaurants and only a short drive away from the Pyramids of Giza. Besides the strategic position, the Hotel also gives a fantastic view on the Nile and some of the mosques in the near neighborhood.||||The Rooms are very comfortable, clean and offer all the amenities you might need and, the bathrooms are really lovely. I booked a Suite and I highly recommend it, if you are travelling with family and/or friends or, if you just like to have lots of space, as the Suites are equipped with multiple beds and separated bedrooms. The price / value offer is fantastic and your clothes get all the space they deserve. 😊||||All the Personnel was extremely kind and professional and deserve a special thanks. Everyone was always of immediate assistance and ready to help with transportation or all the request I had with a smile. Well appreciated!||||You will find delicious food at the two outside Restaurants, one with Egyptian delights and one with European Menu. The Night Terrace is a lively and popular hotspot in Zamalek among locals with higher standards to enjoy a tasty Cocktail and a good conversation. So for hotel guest a real opportunity to meet great egyptians and expats. The perfect place to make new acquaintances.||||As special remark, I would like to thank the entire Hotel Team ranging from the very competent General Manager Mr Imad to the office Manager Mrs Reem and of course all the staff like receptionists, cleaning team etc whom are doing a fantastic work! Everyone contributed greatly to this beautiful Hotel experience!||||All in all it was an outstanding stay and definitely the right choice for my stay in Cairo.||||PS: sorry that I didn't remember all the family names as everyone always spoke by first name, which made you feel even more welcomed..||||PSS: Fighting the COVID pandemic, the hotel has implemented high efforts on sanitizing, packaging individually sanitary items and organizing scheduled time for shared area such as fitness and so.. So all measures...
Read moreRe located to this hotel to save money on my last night in Cairo Zamalek area. It costs 70 USD for a night with taxes included which is almost half the price of other hotels in Zamalek. The room I got was very spacious, it had a kitchen area with a fridge and cooker along with a TV lounge for relaxing. The bathroom was spacious too. Complimentary toiletries, fresh towels and free drinking water with tea/coffee also provided. The room was dated and needed refurbishment but was adequate for short stays. The swimming pool on the roof was operational, other parts of the common areas seem like they have seen better days. However for me personally one of the best aspects was the spacious and well equipped gym and a steam room and sauna which were free for guests to use. The price I paid was worth it because 2 guests could have stayed for that price. I travel a lot and I compare places a lot, this place in Zamalek island in Cairo is a fantastic location with many interesting cafes/ restaurants and shops nearby. Yes the hotel needs refurbishment but that would also push the price up. The staff were great and had reasonably good english language skills, I managed to pay 35 USD (half day rate) on the second day because I had a midnight flight and kept my room...
Read moreYou get a room and that is all and not a very good one at at that. |The room had seen better days as it probably has not been renovated in decades. The TV that worked with one channel in Arabic and a remote that didn’t |work. The tv was an old Grundig from the 1990’s. The wifi worked ok sometimes and not at all most of the time. |The room had a Kitchenette that included a steam kettle. No coffee, no tea supplied.|I thought breakfast was included but it wasn’t. Apparently it wasn’t included in my room purchase. It wasn’t a cheap purchase so I would hate to think whatever the more expensive package would cost. I was charged an extra 100 EGP for a breakfast that was very minimal.|I tried to get the front desk to arrange a taxi for me. The front desk person told me to go out front and hail a cab. He simply walked away from me. Did he not know how difficult it is for a non Arabic speaking person to talk to a non English speaking cab driver. My advice to remember that foreigners need your help.|My advice to anyone out there. Book another hotel. You pay 4 star prices for 1 star...
