The apartment hotel was recommended to me by a colleague from Addis. The location would be quite good but unfortunately there is a lot of building going on around the hotel with lots of noise and specially muddy roads after the daily rain shower. Not nice to walk from the hotel to the close by amenities. Maybe this will improve again when the buildings are completed. I had a two bedroom apartment. It was clean but some maintenance was required. I had to ask housekeeping to change a plug a socket and help tighten the water inlet to the geyser as it was leaking. My requests were promptly attended to. The kitchen is fairly well equipped though a change of frying pans would help to make one feel comfortable cooking. There are a few supermarkets and stores around, which can be reached by walking. ||Housekeeping, change of bedding and washing clothes is included which was a great service, and I was even invited by the housekeeping manager to their staff coffee celebration. It was a nice welcome on my first day. ||The welcome and introduction to the stay at the hotel wS unfortunately rather scanty and they failed to inform me that one has to buy ones own washing up things and toilet paper. Not a problem but should be mentioned early on before the surprise is upon you. ||I had uncertainties with my booking dates for the stay at the apartment due to visa and travel uncertainties. My biggest disappointment was that the hotel did not tell me that my apartment was already booked by someone else. Another apartment further up was offered but I could not accept it as they could not issue a receipt for payments. Thus the only solution was to make a quick unplanned exit and having to rush around in the neighborhood to find alternative accommodation. So here is my recommendation to the management. Please be honest with your guests and discuss with them their booking options. It was my first time to feel that I am being thrown out of a hotel. As such I can unfortunately not recommend this hotel to...
Read moreStart with the not so good - we booked at very short notice on booking dot com. On arrival there was no one on reception so delay while we got key. Initially we were told that we would be charged twice the price on the booking site but we stuck our ground and got for booked price. Despite requesting customer service to discuss face to face all conversation conducted over phone.. The booking site said apartment had terrace and washing machine but it did not. Let it go as apartment was good size and excellent value for 4 people and, as we found out, laundry was done regularly to high standard at no extra charge. Having booked for 2 nights initially pleasure turned into business and we needed to extend our stay. We were accommodated for 4 extra nights at the original price when, legitimately, it could then have been increased. All staff were very helpful face to face. Car parking. Good tv. Kitchen adequately equipped though basic and the hob was not very effective. Did not cook after one attempt. Good fridge. Apartment kept clean and the lady doing the cleaning was very sweet. Seems to be part of hotel complex so adjacent hotel had restaurant. Lots of building around area but this is typical of Addis and building started at sensible time so sleep quality good. Close to airport. Safe area to walk around, plenty of ATM , shops. Cafés , Edna Mall all in easy walking distance. Great location. Be prepared to pay in cash despite having card machine. After initial hiccup great stay for our needs with charming staff and...
Read moreIt was a pleasure to have stayed in this apartment and have a sense of true Ethiopian friendliness. The location is prime, although during the rainy season the small road leading to it can get muddy from all the construction work around. But once you get to the main road, the world is at your feet-- excellent restaurants and shopping are plenty. You can easily catch a taxi and despite the airport being less than 7 minutes away, there is no airplane noise. There is a heavy expat community living here full time and Sundays can be noisy when expats fire up the grill and crank up the music. Other than that, the fact that it is located away from the main drag makes it a quiet place at night and you can sleep peacefully in comfortable beds. ||The decor in our unit was adequate but everything was clean and well maintained. The building, thankfully, has a generator and a water tank so you can live through the many power and water outages that plague the city. ||Laundry service and cleaning is included in your rent as well as a strong wifi, which is pretty decent and reliable for Addis' notoriously temperamental internet service. There isn't a dedicated restaurant in the building, but there is a full kitchen with enough appliances to make simple meals. The hotel right next door serves really good Ethiopian and western food, as does the Italian restaurants a few steps away. |Overall, a very cool place to stay with really attentive and efficient people ready to help...
