Our stay at Lauri Apartments an the Lauri Handcraft Shop were some of the most memorable parts of our trip to Rovaniemi!

The apartment was cozy, spotlessly clean, and full of charm, with beautiful traditional Finnish decor and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the location was perfect — close to the city center, yet quiet and surrounded by nature. It felt like a true home away from home.

What made the experience even more special was the Lauri Handcraft Shop, located right on the same historic property. The shop is filled with locally made treasures — wooden crafts, reindeer horn items, and unique gifts that reflect the soul of Lapland. Every piece feels personal and handcrafted with care.

The staff and hosts were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help with tips about the area or stories behind the products. You can truly feel the passion and love they put into both the accommodations and the handmade crafts.

Lauri is a true hidden gem in Rovaniemi.

I and my friends stayed in the beautiful historical loghouse which was perfect for our group of 4, (cozy spacious and full of character). It made our trip feel really special! Also, the location is ideal as it is just a short walk to the city centre and the museum.

The accommodation has also a small souvenir shop on the ground floor. A lovely place full of authentic handmade items crafted from natural materials. You can even see the artisan working through a window into the workshop which makes the experience even more unique.

Both the stay and the shop were highlights of our trip in Rovaniemi and we highly recommend visiting if you want something truly local...

I did not get to visit Lauri Guesthouse but purchased a puukko knife from the handicraft shop. Lukas was very helpful through out the purchasing process including to sending me photos of my knife being made. The finish product is incredible and even better than I had hoped for. To be able to purchase a Sami knife, hand made with hand engraving, is just an incredible experience ! I whole heartedly recommend that anyone buying one get pictures sent to you as you get to really see your knife being made, from rough materials to finish product.
