We stayed 3 nights (2 nights in one room and the 3rd night in another room as when I booked directly they didn’t have the same room available for 3 nights). It was myself and my two kids (15 yrs and 14 yrs).||This was really no bother to switch rooms and staying here for 3 nights was the best decision not to mention really affordable compared to other options!||The location is great for exploring town and the best rated restaurant in Rovaniemi is located in the hotel (make a reservation in advance). The food and service at the restaurant was superb (thank you Johnny our server). First time we all had reindeer and it was amazing and compliments to the chef(s) for such an enjoyable meal and experience.||The food was just as impressive in the morning with the breakfast buffet. My kids would start talking about breakfast at dinner as they enjoyed the variety of breakfast choices. Again, impressive and delicious. Sausages, bacon, smoked salmon, fruit, sweet desserts, breads, cheeses, pancakes, traditional items too…the list goes on…breakfast would keep us satisfied for hours while we toured or skied.||Lastly, the staff, especially Tony and Marjut at the front desk. My American international phone plan would not work in Finland (thanks Verizon!). However, Tony spent so much time with us trying to help figure out what Verizon couldn’t do. I can’t express the patience and helpfulness that Tony provided to us. Thanks to him, I was able to begin calling and texting Finnish numbers (he showed me how to get a Finnish network SIM card online and worked tirelessly to figure out how to get it to work (eventually had to take my other SIM card out—which of course was stuck..but Tony again, tirelessly helped us.||This level of care and service saved us and we are grateful! I think the service you get in a boutique hotel like the Arctic Light Hotel is hard to find at other places. Not to mention the cleanliness and fabulous decor makes it a great choice!|We also enjoyed a private sauna reservation …free at hotel you just need to reserve it during your stay.||This was the first hotel out of 5 total accommodations during our trip. I can HIGHLY recommend this place especially compared to others we stayed throughout our travels in Finland. Just book a room and know it’s a...
Read moreGreat Stay at Arctic City Hotel – Convenient Location & Good Service: We had a pleasant two-night stay at Arctic City Hotel and would recommend it for travelers looking for a well-located and comfortable stay in Rovaniemi.
Prime Location – Right in the Heart of Rovaniemi: The hotel is perfectly located in the town center, making it incredibly convenient. It’s within walking distance to shopping malls, cafés, restaurants, and supermarkets, so everything you need is easily accessible.
Friendly Service & Smooth Check-In: The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, and the check-in process was smooth. One thing we really appreciated was that this hotel does not charge a deposit—they only take your credit card details for security, which was a nice and hassle-free approach.
Cozy & Well-Equipped Room: The room isn’t very large, but it’s cozy and comfortable for two people. If you have large suitcases, space might be a little tight, but it’s still manageable. The basic in-room amenities were great, including a kettle, small refrigerator, and complimentary coffee and tea.
The shower was a pleasant surprise—not only was it well-designed, but the hotel also provides Rituals-branded shower gel, which was a lovely touch!
A Few Downsides: One thing that felt a little odd was the full wall of mirrors in the room, which can be a bit creepy, especially at night. Another issue was the glass panel between the bedroom and shower—it’s only covered with a ¾ mirror, meaning privacy isn’t great. Additionally, if you wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, the bright bathroom light shines through the uncovered glass panel, which can easily disturb the other person sleeping.
Breakfast – Simple but with a Luxurious Perk The breakfast buffet offers a basic selection similar to other hotels, though the menu doesn’t change much from day to day. However, what really stood out was the complimentary champagne at breakfast—a generous and luxurious touch for those who enjoy a little indulgence in the morning!
Final Thoughts Overall, Arctic City Hotel is a great choice if you’re looking for a well-located, comfortable, and well-managed hotel in Rovaniemi. The friendly service, cozy rooms, and convenient location make it a solid option, despite a few minor...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Arctic City Hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, the experience was flawless, thanks to the amazing team and the hotel’s thoughtful touches.
A massive thank you to Gabriela, who went above and beyond to make our stay truly special, and to Nicky, who was equally fantastic. Gabriela’s efforts in organizing a private sauna session were a highlight of our trip—an unforgettable touch that made our celebration even more memorable.
The hotel itself is simply perfect. From the hearty and delicious burgers served in the pub downstairs to the exquisite meals in the main restaurant, every dining experience was outstanding. My personal favorite, however, was the breakfast—the porridge and bacon were absolutely to die for!
The location couldn’t be better. Situated right in the heart of Rovaniemi, the Arctic City Hotel provides the perfect base for exploring the city while offering a cozy retreat to return to after a day of adventure.
This hotel has now officially become my favorite place to stay in Rovaniemi, and we’re already looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you again to Gabriela, Nicky, and the entire team for making our stay so unforgettable!
