After a long stroll through Avignon we ended at this place for a long awaited dinner. The moment we sat down we received a cold bottle of still water and a delightful appetizer of smoked salted almonds. We were off to a great start.
A kind waiter approached us and we asked for some extra bread while reading the menu's. Meanwhile we noticed the cutlery and how it amazed my autistic friend who struggles with these kinds of things.
Not much later another waiter approached us and took our order. My friend who is vegetarian asked for vegetarian options, but was sadly brought to attention that they only serve risotto during the evening hours. Riddled with doubt, while questioning her morality she sparked a conversation with the waiter. Asking inquiring about whether the meat was sourced locally and ethically. After some friendly banter, she asked if the waiter thought the cow had lived a happy life. He not only extinguished her doubt, but even reassured her that he personally insured the happiness of said cow. Safe to say she ordered the ethically sourced happy cow burger. The other ones including myself ordered the entrecote.
When little time had passed and when we already enjoyed our drinks, we received our meal. The entrecote was so amazingly well brought to life and really made my day. I had to take time to process each individual bite to fully extend the time period of the entire meal. However across the table, something was afoot. My friend who was thoroughly enjoying the ethical burger, averted her gaze to the ceramic bowl of fries, which had joined the aesthetically pleasing sight of her plate. Situated next to her burger, her attention quivered when she detected there was a piece of sliced chunk missing from her ceramic bowl. For an instant she mistook the bowl for an intentional fry display. Only when she graced her finger on the edge of the bowl did she notice the slightly sharp edge, which did not feel intentional at all. After further deliberation, she glanced over to the waiter who was on his way to our table. We chipped with excitement about our food and let him know we were well. However my friend asked about the ceramic bowl. Shock painted the face of the waiter, who could not believe his very eyes and expressively apologized about the situation. Immediately offering to exchange said bowl of fries. My friend refused and made very sure she wasn't in danger and that the perfection of the fries contained in the bowl were in perfect condition.
When the rest of the table arrived at the climax of said dinner. The same morally conflicted friend took a graceful bite of her side salad. To her shock she firmly bit down upon one singular corn kernel, hard as diamond. A lively noise came from her direction as the whole table looked confused at said friend. Shock rippled through the table when we discovered the corn incident. After some bantering back and forth, a waitress came across our table asking if everything was alright. This very moment my friend attended her to the mysterious lost kernel of corn. Shock once again lit up the waitresses face (how history repeats itself). "I am so so so sorry" the waitress exclaimed. Immediately asking if anything could be done. My friend assured the waitress it wasn't a problem at all, just that her tooth had been injured to a small extent. After some apologetic, yet humorous banter, she immediately offered to comp our beverages. We all thanked her for the deed and proceeded to get some coffee. After thoroughly enjoying, those delightful coffees, we asked for the bill. We discovered that she had comped our entire aperativ round of drinks. We were beyond grateful. Even after we reassured that it was not a problem and no harm was done. The restaurant met us with overwhelming kindness and generosity. What a wonderful place and kind staff.

Read moreThis place was recommended to us by our airbnb host and we are so grateful for it! This place is close to the palais de papes so there's some lovely places to sit. The courtyard setting is pretty and romantic.
The food was excellent. They have a good deal for an app, entre and dessert that my partner and I found sufficient for our appetite.
Everything we tried was excellent! Intricate plating and the taste of the food matched the aesthetic. The price for the meal felt like great value for the quality and taste of food we received.
Also, the warm bread they serve is a really nice touch of
Would love to return and try other dishes...
Read moreUnbelievable food, interesting pairings of ingredients and delicious modern cuisine. I really loved this food and I hope that more people will visit here. I ate a fish carpaccio with yuzu to start which tasted so fresh and interesting; I don't think I've ever had such a delicious starter. The main course was some fried fish with various accompaniments, all of which tasted incredible but I can't remember their names because my French is rubbish!
It is listed as a wine bar, but really it is an excellent restaurant. The staff are wonderfully accommodating and accepted my terrible French...
