La Vache à Carreaux — Restaurant in Avignon

What a little gem this restaurant is in the heart of Avignon! Just slightly away from the touristy eateries, in a beautiful historic building with two fantastic hosts. Coco and Lolo turn it into a celebration: service like you rarely experience these days — genuine attention to their guests, plenty of humor, and above all, lots of love. And on top of that, an English-speaking hostess (who also speaks Spanish, by the way). The food was just as delightful. Together they gave us a wonderful evening in Avignon.

Our night ended with a homemade peach rum at the bar with Coco and Lolo, which made the evening complete. If you ever find yourselves near Amsterdam again, let us know!

This is a bustling wine bar on a pedestrian street by the papal palace. The daily food and wine lists are written on chalkboards. The wine list presented a variety of interesting beverages. Just had the best evening here. We were looking for something authentic and full of character and weren’t disappointed at all. The food and wine were outstanding! The environment full of charm and our host was so friendly and welcoming helping to make a really special final evening in Avignon. Would highly recommend as a great place that takes you away from all the mass tourist restaurants around the squares. Wish we’d found it...
