The Courtyard has gotten everything right. Loved the modern yet cosy design of the common areas and the room. It's not a large hotel but it is packed with all the right conveniences for every traveler. Strong WiFi, nice bar and restaurant and comfortable lounge area. There are plenty of surrounding amenities. With Carrefour just next door, a wide selection of Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Lebanese and French restaurants, pharmacies, boulangeries and even a boucherie all within 5-7 minutes walk. Whoever designed the room has thought of everything for the comfort of the guest. The furnishings are of top quality material. Everything is in the right place with aesthetically pleasing custom made metal door locks, solid chairs that don't creak when sat on, a luxurious king sized bed and perfect cosy lighting including a vanity light on the bathroom mirror. Even counted that there are 10 power sockets plus several USB points - a great ratio for this sized room. The icing on the cake is the lovely view of the Rue Ernest from the ceiling to floor window. The full carpet flooring and sound-proofed windows were totally effective in cutting out noise whether externally or internally within rooms. Having said all this, what made the Courtyard complete are its employees. The management must have succeeded in keeping their employees happy because every single one of them, from the chambermaids to the service and receptionists are always willing to help with a smile, patiently explaining the surrounding amenities, professional in their attitude and they deliver efficiently. You will be greeted with a bonjour by everyone you encounter from the moment you walk into the hotel all the way to your room. A special shout-out to Tracé, Taufiki and Pierre (hope the names are correct) who went beyond the extra mile in providing assistance. Tracé spent more than half an hour on the phone to help with a delivery that never materialised. Taufiki and Pierre were absolutely helpful with changes to our reservations. There were many others whom we did not get their names. A BIG thank you to all of you for making our stay a perfect one. In conclusion, the Courtyard is one hotel that has gotten both its hardware and...
Read moreThe room was a nice size and clean. The location isn't super central, but it's two minutes away from the metro and also serviced by buses and trams so there are no real issues getting around.
The service definitely left a lot to be desired. I am by no means expecting anyone to be fawning over me when I check in, but a simple return of my greeting would have been nice. There were two staff members behind the desk when we checked in, and we were the only guests currently in the lobby. The whole time we were checking in, the two staff members were chatting to each other in French. I understood enough of the context and body language to know they weren't working through an issue with the machine, or one of them instruction the other processes or similar- it was just a chat between two coworkers. I had to interrupt the chat to ask if they didn't need to see any ID, to which the person checking us in glanced at me and shook their head no. I also had to ask if they had my membership number on file- usually this is at least mentioned by the check-in staff.
We finally received one key card, and had to ask to get a second one which is a little strange as I would assume most adults would prefer to have their own key card. Getting to the elevator, we couldn't get either one to work. Going back to the reception, the front desk person gave a small sigh/giggle when I said the card wasn't working and took it from me to show us how to use them- turns out you have to hold them against the reader for about 30 seconds for it to activate- why not just tell us this up front as it's obviously a common problem?
We didn't have much other interaction with the staff, but the only time anyone even lifted their heads and greeted us when we came in through the front doors was when what was obviously a manager was also behind the front desk. The hotel is nice but the whole experience left us feeling like we were a burden one the staff for being there which...
Read moreThe overall rooms and location were great for the first time being in Paris. There were some issues with the service. The staff made it an issue when my group and I tried to eat at the table in the lobby one evening. The evening staff made us leave the area and said it wasn't allowed. Although multiple other people (not from my group) were allowed to do so at varying times throughout the day and evening. The staff made a point to let us know that the hotel was a business location and not for tourists. It was a noticeable behavior change from how my group (US travelers) were treated in accordance with others from various parts of the world. All of us were respectable and abided by their rules. Another problem arose with the cleaning service. The do not disturb sign was placed on my room door. I left the hotel around 5-6pm and came back several hours later. I noticed my Target bag in the restroom with my hair products, lotion, shea butter, electric toothbrush, toothpaste, and shower cap were missing. I informed the concierge (I believe his name was Roman) about this issue and was told the cleaning staff would be contacted. I checked in with him again and another concierge (unsure of his name) about the status of my belongings. The do not disturb sign was placed on my door again the next day. The cleaning staff attempted to enter into the room, but this time there was an extra lock on the door. They weren't able to. There was absolutely nothing done by anyone or a sense of urgency to find a resolution. I informed Roman of my departure soon and gave my contact information (my name was not on the room) about the next steps. I was told someone would be in contact with me. No one ever contacted me about what happened or offering replacements for my lost items. I wouldn't recommend staying at this...
