I had spotted Bruno's pretty hotel/restaurant on a search for Cassis as we usually stay a couple of days in the Marseilles area when we're traveling to our house in Fitou. Several attempts were made but for various reasons we never made it till this last May.||Had we known just how extraordinary the experience would be, we would have moved Heaven and Earth to be there before this visit. And Bruno made no reference to our botched plans in the past and welcomed us with open arms.||The main attraction of La Maison de Nino is that it is one of the top -- if not the top -- restaurant in the delightful small port an hour east of Marseille and is, incidentally, bursting with restaurants. ||But the experience of eating here is matched by the qulaity of the three available rooms above the restaurant. Each is beautifully arranged and modern in appearance while beautifully comfortable and a view of the Port and Chateau that is just breathtaking.||We were a party of four with two of the rooms, Tremontane and Mistral. The former is a large room with a mezzenine for the large bed space, the latter is smaller but still generous and both had tall windows opening onto small balconies from which you can enjoy the sea breeze while people watching the quai in front of the building.||We found Bruno is an excellent host and he spent much of his time time with his guests especially over dinner and more informally over the excellent breakfast in the restaurant. His motor-sports exploits are worth asking about!||We spent a fair chunk of change here with the rooms and the wonderful meals but it was a highlight of a month long trip to four...

Read moreThe front of house Middle Aged man in the blue shirt working 27/08/24 is possibly the rudest man I have ever met! The restaurant has plenty of empty tables and he said wait 10 mins and something should become available…. Unless he was anticipating 30 groups of people to be seated in the next 10 mins I found it hard to believe they were fully booked. We waited (we thought 10mins no biggie) no more people had been seated and we went to check our status and he randomly gave our table away to someone else and said it would now be an additional 30mins. We were standing directly out the front not sure how he ‘missed us’. We tried a few other places and had no luck and upon walking back past this restaurant 2 mins later, we overheard this man say to a group ‘a table will be free in 5 mins’ then another group he said ‘wait 2 minutes’. We were clearly confused and I addressed it and asked him, “ Is there a table free in 2 minutes” he replies “not for you go away” and waves us off…. I’ve never met someone working in this industry who doesn’t want to fill tables. Let alone push customers away when there were 30 tables outside free and inside had no one seated. Absolutely bizarre! All the other restaurants who were actually fully booked made a polite attempt to squeeze us in and were so apologetic we they could not make it work. Bistro El Niño needs a proper reality check. If this man is the owner he might need to reassess his manners before he drives all his business...
