The Premiere Classe chain offers basic, low-cost accommodation throughout France and in several other European countries. For about 40 euros you get a simple double room with a small bathroom and there is a TV. It is all a bit spartan, there is no service - but it is clean and a lot cheaper than most alternatives. Generally Premiere Classe is good value. Unfortunately, the hotel at Metz south isn't as good as others we have used. We never got into our first room there; the door lock didn't work, so we were given a key card for another. In this, the bed sheets were clean - as were the towels. However the floor was not at all clean, neither were the walls - and neither were the blankets. A few days after staying in this place I found small lumps on my foot; these turned out to be a scabies infestation that I had to treat. I cannot definitely say that I picked up these mites in the Premiere Classe at Metz - but the hotel is my number one suspect since we had just come from Germany where everything had been spotless.||Incidentally, the hotel does offer free wi-fi - however this is not fast; at times it was taking ages for web pages to appear and the system went down to a...

We travelled from the south of France to Scotland and needed to stay one night in a hotel to break the trip. We chose this one as we were on a very strict budget. It's a one star hotel, so we did not expect much, however the room was clean, the price was good and for one night it was absolutely ideal. In saying all that, I wouldn't like to stay there much longer than one, or perhaps 2 nights though as it is pretty spartan. We arrived late at night and collected our keys from the restaurant next door and let ourselves in. We had a bunk bed, with a single upper bunk for our 3 yr old and a double for ourselves below. We had travelled far and had a fairly early ferry to catch so arrived late and left early, without breakfast, but as we booked and paid for it all on expedia we checked out and were on our way in 10 seconds...

Ja, es stimmt, die Zimmer sind hellhörig und sehr klein, die Nasszelle noch kleiner und die Ausstattung ist sehr spartanisch. Aber alles war sauber, hat einwandfrei funktioniert, einschließlich der individuell steuerbaren Klimaanlage (!) und nichts hat nach Rauch gerochen (wird vom Personal sehr darauf geachtet). Ja es stimmt, das Hotel war stark frequentiert und die Gäste sind zu 90% Montagearbeiter. Aber niemand war laut und ab 22.00 Uhr war absolute Ruhe. Nur morgens hat man die Arbeiter schon früh am Zimmer vorbeigehen hören (unser Zimmer war direkt an den Treppen). Wem das zu laut ist, dem empfehle ich Ohrenstöpsel, dann hört man gar nichts mehr. Ja es stimmt, das Frühstück war nicht üppig. Aber es ist absolut ok. Es gab Croissant, Baguette, Kuchen, Müsli, verschiedene Marmeladen, Schokocreme, Butter, verschiedene Joghurts, Apfelkompott, Orangensaft und verschiedenster Kaffee, Kakao und Milch. Nichts war abgezählt. Man konnte nehmen, was und so oft man wollte. Liebe Kritiker, pro Person kostet ein Doppelzimmer 29 Euro incl. Frühstück (!). Dafür bekommt man in der Hauptsaison in Frankreich sonst noch nicht mal eine Parzelle auf einem Campingplatz und ein Burger in den umliegenden, zahlreichen Restaurants kostet im Vergleich zwischen 18 und 20 Euro. Da gibt es doch nichts zu meckern !!! Wer Wert auf mehr Komfort sowie Ei und Käse zum Frühstück legt, dem seien die zahlreichen Hotels in Metz empfohlen. Kostet dann halt. Aber das Personal wird dort auch nicht freundlicher sein, denn für das gibt es in diesem Premiere Class die volle Punktzahl. Ein weiteres Handtuch bekommt man auf Wunsch übrigens immer.
