We arrived at the Best Western around noon, and I greeted the gentleman there and told him my name and that we had reservations to which he replied, “No room, we’re fully booked.” I then said, we have reservations and he said yes, you made them in June. A slight misunderstanding but nothing to squabble about. We requested an early check-in but we were denied. They’re pretty strict about that. So we left our luggage with the hotel rep who placed our luggage behind the elevator in an unlocked area. Since our last hotel did this too, we weren’t too concerned. When we walked outside, we noticed immediately that we were in a great location. There were several groceries, patisseries and meat shops within a hundred feet of the hotel. So we walked 5 minutes to the botanical gardens and ate some bread that we bought across the street.
When we finally were allowed to go upstairs, we rode up the traditional small lift and made our way to a very small hotel room. It seemed more like a boutique hotel as everything in the room was small. We really didn’t mind because we were there just to sleep anyway. We could tell the rooms were recently updated. They were quite nice and very modern (think Aloft). However there was no distinction between the bathroom floor and the shower floor and so we had to be very careful not to flood the bathroom as only a glass wall separated them. One other thing is that they do give you tea and coffee in the room (you make it yourself) and there is one bottle of water. Apparently the first bottle is free and any bottle after that they will charge you 1.5 E. If you want really cheap bottled water, go to any Franprix; about 30 cent Euro for a 1.5 liter bottle.
PROS A short five-minute walk to the Metro stop (Place Monge). 10-minute walk to the Pantheon 3-minute walk to a laundromat 5-minute walk to a square filled with restaurants, bars and sidewalk crepe shops. Modern rooms
CONS Staff neglected to tell us that there was a step down in one of the two rooms we booked. We just returned from London around 9 PM booked a second room. The agent neglected to tell us that there was a step down as soon as we entered the room. It was pitch black when my wife and I entered the room I almost fell. The same staff member was pretty rude as he gave me a hard time about calling my driver who was going to pick us up the next morning. I don't feel like we received any customer service that final night we were there as he tried to make me feel guilty about helping me. Also he wouldn’t help us when we couldn’t get the computer to work. He was much more interested in watching TV than to help us. Aside from that last night, the time there was enjoyable. We didn’t try their breakfast as it seemed rather pricey when we could get bread and pastries right across the street.
Too many steps in the hallway and rooms. Hard to see when you have a lot of luggage. Staff should warn patrons. My wife fell in the hallway and was lucky not to have fallen down the stairs.
One more thing which could be a challenge for you. Their electric outlets are inset into the wall, meaning they aren't flush so if your plug is bulky like ours was, it won’t fit. Luckily our adapter had an extension that allowed us to plug in...
Read moreThe check in was late they don’t allow to get in the room until 3:30pm but the reservation said 2:30pm for travelers coming from USA from long flights no a good option. I was traveling with my daughter, we didn’t have any sleep and they didn’t let us get into our room. They don’t have restaurant or lobby to rest. The staff was rude and not helpful at all. I won’t never stay at this place again. The day before I left they didn’t clean my room, I ask the receptionist by 7pm when I came back from visiting the city why they didn’t provide me with new towels or shampoos. She looked at me and with an attitude said they were not going to clean it because it was too late. Someone at the hotel gave me a small towel ( I’m staying with my daughter) so she didn’t get any and a small shampoo bottle. I also asked for the fee to get a shuttle to the airport she said it’s 60 Euros. Calling an taxi is only 55 euros, so there is another lie they actually don’t offer shuttle to the airport they charge you 5 extra euro more than if you use a taxi. Rude staff, not helpful and they also try to take advantage of the turist. My advise is to do not stay at this place ever it can ruine you visit to Paris. Another comment. When I spoke with the manager on my way out. He said my room wasn’t clean because when the housekeeper knocked my door in the morning I said I didn’t need anything I explained I just said I was still in the room getting ready to leave. He said No you said you didn’t want anything. I explained to him it was the worst customer services ever. Then I asked to get charged for breakfast they took my card and the manager desesperar saying he hopes I never come back to France. I asked him what did he say? And he walked away. I hope my review help others to avoid having such a bad experience. There are many nice hotels in the area such Atmosphere I stayed there in 2015 the staff were just amazing and the location...
Read moreWe booked 2 X rooms for our 1st family holiday in Paris. The rooms were not up to the standard for the rating or price! They were basic and clean but absolutely no maintenance had been carried out. The beside table was damaged, the bathroom was awful dark brown tiles that had a botched job with the silicone to ‘repair the shower’ the plate on the toilet cistern kept falling off. The door handle was broken and came off in our hand making it unusable. Our daughter’s room had a huge crack in the plaster behind the door and her air conditioner was intermittent and inconveniently had to be adjusted by reception staff. (No phone to reception) We also had to constantly get our keycards reset. The reception staff seemed disinterested. |Beware if you need an hairdryer when staying here. They have one in the rooms but both ours and our daughter overheated after 15 seconds and turned off. Useless.|The petite breakfast was served in a dark room with no windows or atmosphere. We opted out. There is no bar fridge (unfortunately I think this is common in France) and no ice buckets were available - just the offer of a shared fridge. We witnessed a customer was trying to check out because of the state of the hotel was not up to scratch and he was told there was a large cancellation fee to pay for as well as tax. |The best part of this hotel is the outside of the building. The rooms were clean and ours was on the top floor and thankfully had a small balcony or the stay would have been unpleasant. I...
