Excellent Location We are a family of 4 so we got a room to ourselves. Thankfully, we were situated towards the back of the hotel and not onto the busy front street which would have been somewhat noisy, especially with the windows open. So overall, it was nice and quiet (except for some noisy and inconsiderate Spaniards upstairs one night who ignored and laughed at other people's shushes - so I rushed upstairs in my underwear and pounded loudly on and roared like a madman outside their door - they quickly quietened down then - and the following night too). It is situated in an amazing location as the moment you step outside you are onto a street with restaurants, cafes, creperies and shops. It's a student area so it's all very safe and not at all rough. And only 10 minutes walk from the Panthéon, and 20 minutes from Notre Dame. The staff are there 24/7 and were very friendly and helpful. Looks, it's a hostel so it's bunk beds and confined quarters. Puzzlingly, there's a shower in the room, but not a toilet. I'd much rather the reverse if I'm honest. So for any late night nature-callings, you have to duck out to the communal toilet across the corridor. Some of the criticisms are for cleanliness - we found it quite clean, no complaints there. The mattresses were good and solid. Not the bed frames unfortunately - every time my daughter tossed and turned I woke up. So towards the end of the stay I just slept on the floor. Paris can get very hot. And there's no ventilation in the rooms, just these weak fans that don't do a whole lot. So it's a night with the windows open. And of course Paris's solitary mosquito found ME of course! (something bitey did anyway). Look! Excellent location, good value for central Paris and the Latin Quarter. Safe place. Great staff. It was quiet, but the heat makes it difficult to sleep.

The staff really were pleasant, and were excited to welcome me and give me suggestions about where to go. The location is also really supremely located and the street alone is a prime location. Both up and down the street you have bakeries, cheese/grocery/meat shops, and tons of restaurants and bars. Public transport is also so easy to get to from here. Perfect if you are going out coming from the ORY Airport, just take two public trains and it's a total of just under 4 Euro. My criticism though comes with the room. This were clean enough, but felt dated and in need of updating. The rooms lacked convenient outlet locations, and there were no lockers in the room (just small non-bag sized, you have to pay per day ones floors down from you). Would I stay here? Yes. But don't expect the best up to date quality (and bring earplugs, it's loud).

My overall experience in this hostel is TERRIBLE. This is definitely the worst hostel I have ever lived.

I’ll put the conclusion here, if you want your belongings to be moved by staff without your approval, or coming back the room and find out that your belongings were gone, or being shouted “GET OUT” by the manager Angel, you am an go ahead to live in this hostel.

Here’s the details of the my living experience:

I have stayed here for four nights. on the fourth day, the Hostel staff Angel and a technician entered my room to fix an electricity problem when I wasn’t there. I didn’t receive any notice about the electricity repairing at all. They moved my belongings without asking me. And when I come back, I discovered that one of my bag was gone. I asked the receptionist politely on that day and the receptionist told me to ask the manager Angel in the next day morning.

In the next morning, I asked Angel does she know anything about my bag. All she said is,”I didn’t take it, I don’t need your bag. Are you going to check out?” I told her that I know she didn’t take it, and I just wanna know does she has any idea about my bag. She told me that she has the right to enter my room and fix the electricity. And I told her that she doesn’t have the right to move my belongings without my approval. Then, she asked me to get out of the hostel. Then, I was kicked out of the hostel.

I could not believe that the manager Angel, who are supposed to represent Young and Happy Hostel in Paris, will treat their customer like that.

In the whole incident, I did not say she steal my bag at all. I was only concerning about how could she carry out the electricity repairing without noticing me first so that I could have time to pack my own belongings. Then she moved my things without my approval. Finally, after my belongings were disappeared, the manager represent the whole Hostel to tell me to get out of the Hostel. I was really shocked.

So, if you want your belongings to be moved by staff without your approval, or coming back the room and find out that your belongings were gone, or being shouted “GET OUT” by the manager Angel, you am an go ahead to live in...
