I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about our horrific experience at The First Hotel in Paris. As a group of girls traveling alone, we felt incredibly unsafe. The reception staff were not only rude but also scammy, which made the entire situation feel even worse. I wish I had taken a photo of one of the male staff workers to warn others about him, but honestly, we were so uncomfortable that we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Our time in France was completely ruined by this hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Honestly, I’d have preferred sleeping on the streets of Paris than stay here again. We will never be returning!

[EDIT]: I just read the response and I am astonished at the misinformation you are spreading and accusing of us! We made several requests to your receptionist to verify the number of people in our room, offering to have him check the room in person or review the security camera footage to address any misunderstandings. Despite these offers, the receptionist insisted that he had already reviewed the cameras. However, it appeared that there was a misjudgment regarding the count of individuals in the room. We even suggested reviewing the footage together to clarify the situation, but THE RECEPTIONIST in a sarcastic and dismissive manner, suggested we should simply sleep in the living area if we had an issue, which is insane! WE DID NOT REQUEST to sleep living area and would never do that since we had a room booked.

At the time of checkout, we considered raising a formal complaint but ultimately decided against it. We felt that the rude attitude displayed by the night staff would not lead to a constructive resolution. Given that we were eager to continue our time in Paris, we chose to avoid further confrontation.

The way we were treated was both unprofessional and disheartening. We are experienced travellers who have stayed at many hotels worldwide, but this is the first time we have encountered such behaviour. The suggestion that this was simply “hotel procedure” only added to our frustration.

We hope you will take this feedback seriously and address the concerns raised and take accountability instead of making false claims against us, as it is vital for the continued reputation of your...

This is my updated review after my stay. While the overall experience was average, the hotel fell short of expectations for a 4-star property. Honestly, I’m not sure how it differs from a 3-star hotel.

One major issue I encountered was with modifying my reservation, which was booked through a third-party website. I realized I had selected the wrong dates and tried to modify the reservation within 10 minutes of making it. The hotel chose to respond five days later, saying they couldn’t accommodate the modification. Even after I provided proof showing I had reached out within minutes of the initial booking, they blamed the third-party website for the issue and claimed it was out of their hands.

Despite contacting the hotel directly two weeks before my stay to resolve the matter, they kept deflecting responsibility and running away from my modification request. This lack of accountability forced me to reserve an additional night at the hotel, paying almost the same amount as my original two-night stay. I did this solely because I was traveling with four large bags and two smaller ones, and staying at one hotel was the most convenient option. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen to stay here again.

Additionally, there were other disappointing aspects. When I arrived, no one offered to assist me with my luggage, which is not what I expect from a 4-star property. I also asked for a power adapter since I traveled from the U.S., and they told me they didn’t have any. Eventually, they gave me an adapter left behind by a previous guest, which worked but was far from ideal.

Lastly, the room cleaning service frequently blocked half the corridor leading to my room, making it inconvenient to walk through. While I understand that space is limited, it’s still worth noting as an area for improvement.

In general, the hotel didn’t meet the expectations of a 4-star property. I would’ve rated it 3 stars, but the financial issue and lack of care for customer satisfaction initially made me leave a 1-star review. It doesn’t matter how great your facilities are if you don’t prioritize your guests’ needs. Customer care should always be the top priority in the hospitality industry, and unfortunately, that wasn’t...

We stayed in this hotel luckily for one night only purely based on its location, as it was across the street from somewhere we needed to be at night and early morning, however we had a terrible experience. To begin with the room was extremeley small, the bed is barely queen size, the carpet was dusty and dirty and everything you dont want in a hotel carpet where you know hundreds of other people have stepped foot on. Its dingy and depressing and definitely not 4 star worthy. Next which was the most shocking of all was the bathroom. I have attached a picture of the shower - not the same pictures as they have advertised for sure. The shower looked like a hospital shower with a horrid bench attached to the wall that looked so unhygienic. Lastly- at about 1 am we noticed that the sockets and some of lights had turned off, We didn’t think much of it and went to bed thinking maybe it was the key card in the port by the door that stopped working as it had earlier. At 3 45 am we woke up sweating, with no air in a hot stuffy room and the air conditioning was off. We realised that there must have been a power outage as nothing was working. We tried calling the reception but the phone wasnt working, we then tried calling them from our mobiles and the line was dead. Being 8 months pregnant i was feeling unwell from the stuffiness and heat in the room and at 4 30 decided i would go down to the reception and see what was going. I took the stairs as the lift wasn't working, two flights down in complete darkness only to find nobody at the front desk. After this i realised that this wasn’t going to be sorted out and so i got back to the room a d we ended leaving the window open for some air. We did manage to get 20% back from the manager after some back and forth but I do not understand how this has 4*s. There is absolutely nothing about this hotel that deserves any good rating and honestly the only good thing out of this was that we left the next morning at 9 am....

This hotel is in a really good location where you’ll have access to a lot of to restaurants, the trains, etc. I, however, was not a fan of First Hotel. From the time of check-in to check-out. The staff isn’t friendly at all, seems a bit shady, struggles with speaking English & can be a bit argumentative. The only smile we received from hotel staff is when we first checked in. After that, we kept getting looks as if we didn’t belong. No smile, no greeting, no nothing. From walking in, First Hotel seems like it’ll be your dream home away from home – NOT a the case. The lobby is bright white, clean and inviting. Once we made it to our floor… the dark, smelly halls that are profusely stained was not so clean and inviting. The housekeeping staff are loud when speaking and laughing with each other. They leave hotel cleaning supplies out in the petite halls that you pretty much have to walk over. One day we left out our room at 9AM and returned at 6PM and cleaning supplies still crowded the halls. The rooms are boutique size, which means they’re a bit on the small side. However, we paid for an Eiffel Tower view and only got the back view of some other buildings – very disappointing. Didn’t receive our “complimentary” bottle of wine until we had to verbally ask for it. Our room did come with an open bottle of water, which looks as if the glass bottle sitting on the tiny desk gets refilled before every check-in. I did not trust that and definitely didn’t drink it. Maybe if the “complimentary” water had an unbroken seal, it would’ve been better. Went down to try the €15 breakfast solo and I felt uncomfortable the entire time – due to the staff. Fast forward to check-out and the front desk staff tried to tell us that more than one person ate breakfast there – NO SIR. And that’s when he decided to get a bit combative before finally “throwing up his hands.” Personally, I wouldn’t recommend staying here at First Hotel. It was just overall not a good experience for me.

What knocks off one star is that in the winter the central heating is centrally controlled which meant the air conditioning couldn't be turned on so the room was sweltering, and the only way to cool down is to open the door - with the Metro outside and being on a busy road meant I didn't sleep too well. The bathroom (albeit clean and stylish) was incredibly small, same as the bedroom, although you're not spending much time in the hotel then in reality that's not much of an issue. The only other thing that knocks off a star is the room is very very dark. the bedside lamps are too dim to be of any use and the ceiling lamp and spot lights made my eyes hurt. Given that, don't think all the rooms are like the one I stayed in, so this was only my experience. For the good points, the breakfast was nice - a classic continental breakfast and Parisian breakfast - it costs €10 if you book it the day before, €15 otherwise. It is literally outside Cambronne metro station. It's a nice hotel, and the receptionist is friendly and kind. It's clean and if you're staying on the Metro side of the hotel you'll see the Eiffel Tower as well. The bed is comfy and there's a TV, the bathroom is clean as well. Next door, on the corner of Rue De Garibaldi is a lovely little bakery, and is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower.
