My fiancee and I stayed at the Hotel R de Paris for seven nights and were extremely pleased with the hotel.
Service - everyone at the hotel was extremely courteous, welcoming, and helpful during our stay. Whenever we needed suggestions on a restaurant, assistance with getting a reservation, or anything for our room, the staff was quick to respond. We dealt mainly with Melanie and Francois, who were an absolute pleasure. As for the housekeeping staff, they did a wonderful job of maintaining our room every day and leaving it spotless for when we returned from a long day of sightseeing.
Room - Prior to staying in the hotel, I researched the rooms and reviews online. Some people mentioned that the standard rooms were a little small. Based on the photos and reviews, we opted for the executive room, which had a larger bathroom with two sinks and a balcony outside. Our room was wonderful, impeccable, and more than adequate in terms of space. The balcony overlooking the street was very nice for enjoying fresh air and relaxing outside. As for the bed, this had to be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on in a hotel. For two people on an extended visit (more than 2-3 nights), I would recommend going with the Executive Room, as this definitely made our stay more comfortable.
Location - This turned out to be an additional surprise as we became more familiar with public transportation in Paris during our stay. The hotel is walking distance from Montmartre, which is a lovely neighborhood with many beautiful restaurants and sights. Also, the hotel is conveniently located one block east of Liege metro station which can connect you to all the main sites in Paris near the Seine. Directly in front of the Liege station is the most wonderful bakery (Maison R & S) that we visited every morning for a pain au Chocolat, baguette with ham and cheese, and cafe creme. There is also a bus stop directly in front of the hotel that we used many times to get home from the center of the city near the Seine. Although we didn't explore the area surrounding our hotel until the end of our stay, there are many great restaurants and bars that we saw and hope to explore during our next stay.
Overall, this hotel was wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Paris. It will certainly be the hotel I stay at again on...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hotel R de Paris for two nights in May 2023. We had never been to the Montmartre neighborhood before and wanted to explore around there as well as around the Opéra, and the Hotel R is perfectly situated. We got an Executive room and included breakfast. Our room was #560, which was spacious and had a great little balcony overlooking the street. ||Our room was very quiet, and we slept great. The bathroom (sink and shower area) was nicely updated and included two sinks and a terrific shower; the toilet room was teeeeeeeny, and if you are a larger person this might be an issue, at least in the room we had. Wifi was great. Above all, the staff were excellent – always so friendly and helpful, and before our stay responded to email questions promptly. ||Breakfast was pretty good: they had boil-your-own eggs (hilarity ensuing with this failed attempt at a soft-boiled egg), smoked salmon with veg assortment, pastries/breads, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, dried fruits, and coffees to order. One of the reasons we picked this property is because they had a gym, which they sort of did: three basic Technogym cardio equipment (older stuff but worked great, probably because barely anyone uses it) and two sets of tiny-weight dumbbells, one set of which mysteriously vanished between days one and two of our stay. So, maybe get your workouts in by doing pushups in the room and climbing the stairs to Sacré-Cœur a few times! ||Figuring out how to easily get to the hotel from CDG airport via the Métro with our luggage, even with emailed instructions from the hotel (with the added advice to just get a taxi) was too big a pain for us to deal with on day one of vacation, so we just sprung the standard (as of May 2023) 55 Euro fare to get there via taxi, which was much more pleasant. ||All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel R de Paris and would recommend it to anyone wanting a lovely place near...
