Since we checked in to this delightful hotel i have been writing this review in my head. I chose this hotel based on the previous stellar reviews, and they did not steer me wrong.
Location The hotel is utterly central, yet also (somehow!) a peaceful oasis. The hotel is easily accessible from Chatelet-Les Halles, basically the junction of every major RER/metro line + mini mall, and there are a variety of cafes and restaurants literally on the doorstep. It's so central that we ended up walking most of the time, but when our feet needed a break, the metro was right there.
Rooms A/C was flawless (and much appreciated during a little heat wave). With the busy streets outside i was a little worried about the noise, but the double glazing and soundproofing is excellent. We didn't hear anything outside or from other rooms. Extremely comfortable beds. So many thoughtful and high-quality amenities - all toiletries were provided (hand soap, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, body lotion, razor set, comb, cotton buds and rounds, ladies' products, hand sanitizer). Bathrobes and slippers, iron and board, and a BaByliss hairdryer. Nespresso and kettle, bottled water and selection of teas and coffee replenished daily (and also available in the lobby, along with an icemaker and adorable little thermoses to carry the ice back to your room). Minibar had a good selection of things you would actually want (only suggestion would be maybe more snacky things?).
Baths Absolutely spotlessly clean Refitted to a very high standard. Fabulous water pressure, and tankless (flash/instant) hot water. WC had built-in bidet function Plenty of storage for your odds and ends. Functioning window Excellent quality towels.
Staff Absolutely charming and friendly staff. For such a small hotel, it felt like the guest:staff ratio was 1:1 and there was a different person in reception every time we came through. And to a person, they were all so lovely and welcoming, always checking to see if you needed anything or if you'd like a bottle of water before you headed out for the day. Also extremely patient and encouraging with my very rusty French. :)
We will be back next time...
Read moreI’m sorry I don’t want to be mean but this is definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had for my entire life. The room smells stinky almost every single day.||I stayed in the hotel for 5 nights with my girlfriend from Dec 23-28. The first day everything was alright.||Starting from the second day, after we came back from the museum tours, after the room cleaning it smelled stinky, the type of odor from the sewer. However, we couldn’t find where the smell came from. We both were too tired, we opened the window to let go the bad smell and fell asleep. My girl friend woke up in the middle of the night due to the bad smell, and she barely slept that night.||The third night, the smell was still there but relatively lighter. I guess they put lots of deodorant.||The fourth day, which was the worst day, when we just came back from the day tour, it started fine. After we fell asleep, around 2am, the smell was so stinky, so gross and so strong that we both woke up, and I physically felt like puking. I went down stairs to talk to a staff member, and again they put the deodorant in the bathroom. We opened the window the entire night to let the cold air in so we can breathe. It was another day of bad sleep.||The fifth day, when we came back from the day tour, the room smelt with a mixture of deodorant and the stinky unknown thing. We reported the issue again, and another staff member confirmed that there was indeed some bad smell. Sarcastically, we already had the experience, so we kept the window open, and prayed it won’t be worse. “Luckily” we made it to sleep for a full night without noticing the bad smell.||To the hotel owner: if you do know this issue but lied to us that this is the first time, good luck to your future business. But if that was really the first time, I do hope we were the last victims. The first day experience was good without the stinky smell. The location is good and the staff...
