Oh, how I wanted to love this place.
Let's start with the good. Great drinks, wonderful, helpful staff who not only put up with my awful French, but really tried to help me out. (They're the reason for the fourth star.) Great selection of retro consoles.
So, I think it's the business model that kinda doesn't work for me. Each console has one game in it at a time (I think for the day). That means, effectively, that there are only as many playable games as there are consoles. So, if you sit down in front of an N64 and it has Bomberman 64, you're playing Bomberman 64 unless you go to another console.
Also, tables are reserveable and people stay, so if you don't reserve your table (I didn't 'cause I didn't know I could), then you can't sit there.
While this isn't the fault of Reset, it gets crowded pretty much after opening and stays that way (during my trip from the basement to the ground floor, three guys stood in the way of and on the stairs), so if you didn't reserve and don't love the current selection of games, there's not much incentive to stay.
Finally, the site copy mentions Japanese snacks, but I saw nothing like that on the menu, so after my two drinks, I was done with food consumption.
If you've never been, it's worth a taste, but even as a lifelong gamer and huge retro-console fan, I probably won't...
Read moreAbsolutely in love with this place. Visited last March for the first time and had an absolute blast. So when I visited Paris again in the summer, I had to go to Reset for a second time.
The atmosphere is really nice and there are so many fun games to choose from. Classic arcade games, card games, board games, newer consoles.
The cocktails are rather tasty as well, though they can be a bit expensive. But the fact you get to play all the games for free totally males up for that. The staff is friendly and speaks English very well. Overall an absolutely...
Read moreGreat Arcade Bar with super nice staff! It was a busy terrace, however there were spots open in the arcade itself, which makes it easily accessible to gamers and geeks alike.
There was karaoke in the end, there were great drinks named after games (Rockstar Martini, Soul Calibur etc), Mario Kart and even Guitar Hero.
Overall a great place to visit if you are a gamer, game developer, geek or...
