We had a very unfortunate start at our stay at Hotel Riesner. We were informed that we could check in at the hotel after 2 PM. We arrived at the hotel about 2:30 PM. One of our rooms was ready, but the other one wasn’t. We were informed by the hotel receptionist that it would be ready within a short period of time, so we decided that we would put all of our bags and suitcases in the room that was ready and then go get a bite to eat. When we arrived at the room, we wanted to wash our hands, since we’d been travelling for a few hours, but then found out that there wasn’t any running water (?). Confused by this we went to the reception and was then informed here, that they had to shut off the water due to a leak from one of their pipes in the basement, but they were just fixing it and it should be ready within an hour or so. |We then went out to eat. We came back 2 hours later and wanted to check in to the other room, since we were told earlier that it would be ready by now, but was informed by a cleaning lady that it still wasn’t ready. And also there was, still, no running water. |A little frustrated with this we went to the hotel reception and asked what time we could expect our room to be ready, since it was more than 2 hours past the time it was supposed to be ready. She explained that it was the guests that stayed in the room the previous night, who had checked out too late, but that the room should be ready within a few minutes. We then asked about the lack of running water and asked when we could expect to have it back, since we wanted to take a shower and, well, use the toilet (!). She didn’t really know what time it would be ready and tried again to explain that it was because of a leak in a pipe… etcetera, etcetera… We pointed out that this was quite frustrating, and also pointed out that we hadn’t exactly gotten any sort of apology. |We then went to our room, which was fine, but also noted that the air conditioning didn’t work… An hour later the water returned. |At evening we went to get dinner and when we returned later, we were then informed by a new hotel receptionist that they had to shut down the water again, since the leak in the pipe, apparently, still wasn’t fixed. Which means that on the entire first night of our stay, we actually couldn’t use our bathrooms…..!! The water returned the next day. |||Furthermore the hotel’s interior and design is.. odd. The staircase is very dark, specifically because there aren’t any windows, but also because they’ve decided to paint it in a very dark green colour. In the rooms there aren’t any actual closet to put your clothes, but more such of a small rack and a shelf, where you can barely fit your clothes and especially not if you’re two people, who share a room. |The lounge/breakfast area is also quite small and it lacks decent actual tables to sit at.||I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to somebody else. We haven’t been given any sort of formal apology or offered a refund or a discount for the first night of our stay, which was, to say the least, not a...
Read moreOur stay at Hôtel Riesner was amazing. Get ready for a long review of praise for the hotel and the team.
Service: The reception team was phenomenal. Everyone was so helpful and attentive. A standout moment happened when we needed to store butter to take home with us. We were able to store it in the hotel's fridge and grab it at checkout. They even put it in a cute gift bag with a little tag on it. The housekeeping team was also fantastic, tidying up the room and refilling the water carafe every day. It was always a nice treat coming back to a freshly made bed each day. We left for our flight in the morning but the hotel does offer complimentary luggage storage if you are spending time in Paris before check-in/after check-out. We even saw a few people hanging out in the hotel lounge before leaving. It never felt like they were rushing you out the door.
Room/Hotel: We booked a standard double room. It's an efficient use of space (you're in Paris, of course). To make room for two people, we would usually keep our suitcases closed. The bathroom and specifically the shower was a great size. Other hotels in Paris have tiny corner showers; this was a full shower with a rain shower head, which felt extra luxurious. The bed was comfy and there was little to no street noise that came through our window, so we got great sleep the entire stay. Water, coffee, and tea are available at all times in the lobby as well, which is so convenient.
Location: Very close walking distance to Bastille, Gare d'Austerlitz, and Gare de Lyon metro stations. It's a great location as you are only a few metro stops from most popular places but you are paying less than you would to stay in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Walking to Bastille is easy, and you'll stumble across fantastic restaurants, bars, cafés, and much more on your way.
TLDR: We had a great stay here, and we will...
Read moreHotel Riesner (pronounced REES-ner) was a very short walk from the Gare de Lyon train station which is super convenient if you want to take it from CDG when you arrive in Paris. |Charming hotel located on a quiet side-street, this hotel was the perfect place to stay for our visit. Tarek was very friendly and helpful at check-in and every staff member we encountered, including the dining room staff, was pleasant and polite. |Rooms are tastefully decorated and, while small, provide everything needed for a great experience. They even have a beautiful sauna and workout room that we utilized and we appreciated that they were open 24 hours.|I highly recommend adding the breakfast option to your reservation. The food options were fantastic and you could even fresh squeeze your own orange juice which we loved. We also felt that starting off the day with a great meal while making a game plan to see the sights was worth the price. Not sure what the reserved cost is, but we paid 15 Euro/pp which is less than any cafè in the area.|Neighborhood is very walkable and interesting and there’s even a laundromat a couple blocks away with a Creperie around the corner if you like to do your laundry as we did.|In summary, we loved our stay at the Riesner and would absolutely stay there again next...
