Hello Parisians & Travelers,
The restaurant's location is convenient, nestled in a cozy little street. Having read the reviews, I anticipated the food to be at least "good." I enjoy trying Desi style food in most cities I visit, and Paris, a mecca of food, is no exception. Based on the reviews, I had to try it. Overall, the food was bland, and to my surprise, they microwaved it in front of me (all of it). The service was okay, nothing particularly good or bad to note. While I want to be kind in my review, I cannot recommend it if you're looking for authentic Indian food. In their defense, this could be an adaptation to local tastes.
Papadum: 1/5 I tried the papadum, and honestly, it was fine. It was cold, but the chutney had flavor. A bit too salty for my taste, but I can see some people enjoying it. Just remember, it will be cold as it wasn’t made fresh.
Lamb Curry: 1/5 I chose the lamb curry, a good test to see if they could meld complex curry flavors with gamey meat. In simple terms, I received 5-7 pieces (specifically 6) of decent, but gamey lamb in a tomato sauce with a hint of curry. It felt almost like they used canned tomato sauce with a sprinkle of curry powder, then microwaved it. The preparation time was shockingly short. The curry's color was more orange/red, resembling a butter dish. I even asked to confirm if it was indeed lamb curry. The first bite was more tomatoey than anything, leading to disappointment. Kudos for the meat quality; the lamb itself was quite good. However, they provided only 6 small pieces, insufficient for the portion of rice provided. As a Desi food enthusiast, I found this quite disappointing. The main takeaway is that the curry isn't a true curry; from its color to the overwhelming tomato flavor, it's just not right.
Service: The service was fine. Being critical, considering it wasn’t busy and it was the holiday season, a bit more effort would have been appreciated. However, we don't know what kind of day the staff was having, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve also tried places in London, Amsterdam, and Barcelona, where the staff were far friendlier, enhancing the experience. Here, I felt more like a task and annoyance to them as I quietly read my book.
Overall: 1/5 I was tempted to toss the food, but didn’t. The quality of the lamb was good enough to eat with the rice, especially since I was quite hungry. It turned out to be the most underwhelming Desi food experience of my trip. Picture to...
Read moreFood was good, the manager is extremely rude and off-putting. Not worth the opportunity cost in our opinion.
Responding to this rude and ill mannered manager's response:
-it's actually quite normal to order multiple times, for instance where there are circumstances you did not order enough. We did not order 10 times, it was one time. yalso, your restaurant was only a quarter filled. if that was hard to manage, it demonstrates a severe lack in managerial abilities. -we never shouted at you, not sure why you would make this up. -we ordered food ahead for TWO CHILDREN to make sure their food was ready on time and told you we would order for the other SIX people at the location. this is not an absurd request. should we have called ahead? sure, but there is no reason to raise alarms. you should be accommodative like any normal restaurant would be. -we washed our hands before and after, left your server a tip b/c he was really nice, and made sure to clean up after ourselves. we were gracious guests despite your attitude. your response in mischaracterizing our behavior and calling out nationalities is rude and 'highly unmannered'. -we do not wish to destroy your business, we hope you fix your rude attitude for future guests. your food is good and your poor waiter that you harassed was quite nice. the only unpleasant thing about the restaurant was you. -you deserve 8 bad reviews for each person that was there, we were reasonable and...
Read moreA very rude waiter attended to us. There were no smiles and when we tried to order he informed us that the main dishes came with rice. He said that he could replace the naans with the rice so when we asked him how he would do that in terms of the number of naans we were ordering, he said that he would do it on his own and that we leave it to him. He even rolled his eyes at us a couple of times. When we asked him if he was angry because he was being very rude and his tone was also very unprofessional, he told us that he was not angry and rolled his eyes again! LOL Needless to say, we left but never had such a bad experience at an Indian restaurant before. Can't comment on the food since we did not eat but not sure how many Indian food connoisseurs eat there. Avoid!
Utterly unprofessional reply from the owner again! We were a very happy family with children, looking for a pleasant time. Never been to an Indian restaurant with bad service. Don't touch this one with a...
