Booked here largely on the basis of the low prices for the area as well as the fact that it was one of the only hotels I could get multiple beds in.||The location is excellent being within walking distance of major destinations like the Notre Dame Cathedral and île de la Cité as well as the Louvre. One drawback though is that the nearest metro stations, Mabillion and Odéon as well as slightly further stations such as Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Saint-Michel, are all on line 4 or line 10. Both lines are north-south and make getting to most attractions and points of interest not feasible. The hotel does make up for it by being superbly connected to transport hubs with RER B from Charles de Gaulle Airport running into Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame and both RER B and line 10 of the metro serving Gare du Nord, alongside the plentiful bus routes that run near the hotel at Saint-Germain - Odéon and Seine - Buci as well much of the city being within walking distance.||The rooms, like the hotel itself, were small but the room wasn't extremely inadequate when compared to my previous experiences in Japan. There was sufficient room in the 20 square meters to fit in a seating area and a small cushion area acting as a seat to the side of the bed. Although the room wasn't particularly large, it didn't feel very cramped. The sheets and duvet were of solid quality for a 4 star the pillows were very comfortable. ||The bathroom was small but had a nice vanity area underneath the sink which made up for the limited space around the sink. Similar to the room, the bathroom didn't feel overly claustrophobic despite its size. The shower was very nice with a full enclosed door and a rain shower setup which provided for great water pressure. The toiletries were also of solid quality although there was a 2 in 1 shampoo and body wash which was odd.||The service was solid from a perspective of interaction but just kind of seemed off during my stay. Most of this had to do with the housekeeping services. I didn't leave the Do Not Disturb sign up the first few days so housekeeping came by but they seemed to only tidy the room and didn't replace towels. There was also a language barrier with the housekeepers but I don't really blame them for that. Another weird thing was that it seemed like every toiletry that was supplied by the hotel seemed to run out whether it was toilet paper, tissues, or shampoo/body wash. It also seemed as if the hotel reused toiletries after each stay because I went down to get shampoo and the bottle was already over half empty. ||The other aspect of the service that was odd was the front desk. I didn't see any indications that it was closed over the night but there didn't seem to be anybody down when we left the hotel early on some mornings. There was also one odd incident where the receptionist had gone out for a smoke break despite it being relatively early.||Also worth mentioning that the internet speeds here are excellent and the internet stays connected instead of disconnecting as it does at many other places when you leave the room. ||The price and relatively high quality accomodations for that price make it a very attractive choice although the service irregularities prevent me from giving it...
Read moreWe spent a week at this hotel visiting Paris in April of 2024. This hotel has a winning location, in the heart of Saint Germain district, and within walking distance to many Paris sites (Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral), and also to the metro. Right outside of the hotel, there are numerous cafes, restaurants, a wine bar, a bakery and a gelato place. Staff is very friendly and helpful! That was the best part about this hotel, the people who work there. They answered all our questions, helped find information, helped book reservations, and all with a smile. The small lobby has a water cooler, coffee machine, a selection of tea and coffee, books, a computer to use and a small desk. The water cooler dispensed selzer, which was a nice feature. We had breakfast at the hotel the first morning. It is an additional charge but was reasonably priced. Express breakfast included bread, croissants, yogurt, cheese selection, fruit, tea and coffee. The room had all we needed - comfortable bed, updated bathroom, good lighting. The room was small, but typical for the area. Since there are only 16 rooms, it was quiet. Also, we had a room facing an interior courtyard, so we had no street noise, although it's a busy area. The star off is for this being an old building and the bathroom not having an exhaust fan - after a hot shower the room got very steamy with water condensing on the mirror and walls. So it wasn't as nice for the second person taking a shower. Also, very little area for hanging up your clothes, but...
Read moreWe just returned from a lovely 6 night stay. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. Our room was perfectly comfortable and had both heating and air conditioning. The hotel also has umbrellas for rainy days. We were put in room 50, on the top floor at the back of the hotel, so it was super quiet. I'd recommend asking for a room at the back if you're very bothered by noise. The street itself is actually pretty quiet, so I don't think rooms at the front would be too loud, but just at the end of the block is a bustling, lively street full of cafes. We visited the bakery on Rue de Buci, Maison Thelevin, every day for baguettes traditionelles and croissants au buerre. Maybe there were better croissants elsewhere in the city, but these were just so delicious we stuck with them. This hotel is perfect if you like to be a little bit more in the center of all the action, and for accessibility, both by walking and by metro. We love walking, so it was great that the Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame and the Louvre were both 25 minutes or less away by foot, and we even walked to the Eiffel Tower along the river, although that is more like an hour away by foot. There is a nearby stop for going directly to and from CDG airport.
For those who haven't been to Paris, and are English-speaking, please know that essentially every person that we met was super friendly and helpful. And most of the servers at restaurants...
