We stayed at this Soho house in September and a staff member assaulted my sister. This incident transpired following harassment from some of the staff members, who initially told us we could not sit in the hotel lobby. It is important to note that the night before, we had no issues and were in the lobby as well as the club downstairs until after 2 am. On Saturday, upon returning from dinner, we were treated as if we were not valued members or guests. We chose to ignore this treatment, as we were in Paris to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday. However, things escalated quickly as your employees became increasingly aggressive, while demanding that we return to our rooms. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, we returned to the lobby and sat down. The employees, rather than assisting the unconscious girl who needed medical attention, wrongly accused us of being associated with her group. We repeatedly explained that we were not with that party, yet they insisted we leave the lobby immediately. We began to feel unsafe. The girl was unconscious in a room for a long time, staff was hiding her after we figured out what was going on, that they were hiding her in a staircase. The situation took a truly distressing turn when one of your employees grabbed my sister not once but twice. Feeling threatened and unsafe, I contacted the police to intervene, and they arrived at the scene. Another employee came, Symela to mediate in Greek, but this only seemed to further exacerbate the gaslighting from your staff. At this point, we had already began recording these incidents as evidence, fearing for our safety and the safety of others. Eventually, we filed a police report detailing the events that had transpired. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply disturbed I am by this experience. The behavior of your staff, who not only harassed us but also mocked and were sarcastic in addressing the situation while my sister was left in tears after being assaulted, is inexcusable. Not by one person but multiple employees and management. I am urgently seeking contact with your corporate team or the membership department to ensure that this matter is thoroughly investigated and addressed. This is no small matter, and I hope that the Soho House organization takes swift and appropriate action to rectify this situation. After the Soho worker who grabbed my sister by her arm he then disappeared from the front of house. Only to find the employees smoking cigarettes in the restaurant where they were hiding. It was then we were told the manger was sleeping and we expressed it was time to wake him up. Also why wasn’t he aware and handling this poor women was unconscious being carried around the house by multiple soho house employees hiding her in rooms of the lobby? Why was the ambulance not called immediately? Once he arrived to the lobby @ 4am, we had him put in writing that here is no policy stating we are not allowed in the lobby although that was what we were told numerous times “it’s the policy”. Again we were harassed and targeted while being watched by your employees for no reason that makes this okay at all. There has been no resolution from...
Read moreThe service experience here was stellar!
I actually enjoyed the way the staff worked in concert with eachother and the way they really leveraged even the reservation platform to create an end-to-end customer experience. Once you’re in the house this team was very quick to take note of your name, help you settle in and as new team members came to assist you they addressed you by name and in the most relaxed, yet professional manner they would describe to you whatever you need to know or share with them to help them improve your stay at the house in real-time. There is actually a lot more to say from acknowledging some of the charmingly professional wait staff and bar-keepers to the way the restaurant and bar managers seemed to keep an appropriately watchful eye that I observed as being impactful to several customer’s experiences.
To acknowledge the opportunity areas, I will say my first visit and experience in this particular “house” made me think it’s not my favorite house in terms of exterior curb appeal or due to the sheer facility size or total number of member benefits offered in the space. Yet the house gives you just enough of what you need to be satisfied. I also was quite annoyed that the gym seemed to offer body wash, shampoo, and 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner only which does not feel entirely inclusive of all hair types (mostly the 2-in-1 conditioner which is really drying/damaging for most ethnic hair types)… but in the big picture, those are small things that the team will be able to improve or take note of for future...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve ever had more mixed reviews about a place in my entire life. First off for anyone staying at the hotel the staff is incredibly friendly multilingual, and overall a joy to deal with. However, that all changed when we arrived at the restaurant.
We wanted to order Penne àlla vodka, but unfortunately, they had “run out.” I don’t understand how place like Soho House can run out of something simple like that can’t you just make more? Secondly, the service was incredibly slow, rude and unresponsive in the restaurant.
We asked for mayo, three times and it finally arrived once we had finished our meal almost 45 minutes later. They also brought us TWO pepper shakers. When was labeled P and one was unlabeled, so safe to say I dumped An unfavorable amount of pepper onto my plate. If it would’ve been less dark, maybe I could’ve realized before I had turned my béarnaise sauce into a pepper sauce.
In general, it took the staff upwards of 3X the time it would at any other Soho House to get any simple order done. In general, it took the staff upwards of 3X the time it would at any other Soho House to get any simple order done. To cap it all off, we were visited by some disease ridden marsupials who could be seen scurrying around the restaurant area 🐀.
However, As soon as we left dinner, we went onto our hotel room and had the expected 10 out of 10 stay when we choose to sleep...
