Not going to lie.... was at first filled with apprehension when booking this restaurant (a bit on the pricey side) as it was Tik Tok or social media famous as one of must go to places in Paris, and so thought that could be the highlight of the place and thus sub par food served.
True that upon entering, the place has a very instagramable staircase that was rarely empty as people kept on taking photos around it. Especially on the third floor.
That said, there was a line to get into the place even at an odd hour. We booked our reservation for 1430. Booking can easily be done through their website. You would need to place your credit card as a guarantee incase of a no show.
We arrived a bit early and lined up from a separate line from those with no reservations. We were promptly sent to our table on the 3rd floor (this is where everyone wants to be as it has the best view... so it seems)
Menu is available through scanning a QR code.
A tip, when then waiter ask you what you would like to drink, when you answer water, do let her/him know tap water (free), or a still water will cost you 6.50€
Bread comes first, olive oil was already on the table, no black vinegarette. Bread was good with olive oil and a bit of salt... gets the appetite going...
We ordered the steak (Bistecca Alla Griglia) that comes with potatoes (that I think had been cooked in tallow), The steak (medium) was nice and tender, dip it in the sauce (chimichurri) gives it a rich and balanced flavor, really delicious, and the potatoes soft with a crispy crust (mouth watering just thinking about it again) goes well too with the steak.
Next the famous Truffle Pasta (La Fameuse Pâte â la Truffle). Read from some reviews that this was a pricey underwhelming dish, so glad that it was NOT. One of the best Truffle pasta we ever had. Creamy and the perfect bounciness and chewiness of the pasta. We would have ordered more if not for another dinner reservation that we had later on in the evening.
We did however get another recommended by the waitress Cappellaci Ai Peperoni. It has a good filling ratio to the pasta. Creamy smooth texture when the filling burst out, light, balanced taste, cheesy... but if you had to choose between this and the Truffle pasta, get the Truffle pasta.
To close with a dessert, we had one of the best Tiramisu (Il Tigramisu), a classic . Cold creamy, smooth perfect balance of the rum and coffee taste.
So to conclude would we return solely for the food? The answer would be a YES. A bit pricey for sure but it'd good.
Are there better Italian food in Paris? Possibly, but this is without a doubt one of the better ones currently in Paris. So go and try it !
