I had dinner there and it was lovely—the food was great, and so was the wine. What surprised me, though, was that when I paid my bill, the waiter asked if I wanted to add a tip—just like in the U.S. I asked him if the 15% service charge wasn’t already included, since that’s the law in France nationwide, and it’s the French equivalent of our tip in the States. He replied—somewhat annoyed—that yes, the 15% was included, but I could still leave something extra. Which I did. Still, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this kind of behavior in successful French restaurants: staff pushing or confusing foreign customers by making a vague distinction between “tip” and “service.” Don’t fall for it. That 15% service charge goes directly to the waitstaff and is exactly what we consider a tip in the U.S. There is absolutely no obligation to leave more. I was disappointed by the way it was...

Edit: the morning after myself and Julia left our reviews we got a long text and a call from George, the owner, humbly apologizing for the experience, inquiring about the exact details of the dishes that we did not enjoy, and inviting us to revisit, on them, which is extremely kind, and exactly the approach I value in hospitality—would 100% give you them...
Read moreSuch a shame this place was such a disappointment. Big fuss for no reason unfortunately. The starters are very small portions and for example the pork rib was FULL of fat. We waited for 45min for our main course, and once it came it was seriously not worth the wait. The ravioli that is supposed to be their signature dish was disgusting. It was a plate filled with thick cream and the ravioli was swimming in it, you had to look for it. It was more of a soup than pasta. We didnt eat it as it was insanely thick and unhealthy with all that cream. Our friends who had the duck at...
